Hi, I'll answer all your questions one at a time. :)

Free lippie and mascara - the ACM is giving out vouchers for £2 off any lipstick or mascara. Since the Natural Collection ones are £1.99, this makes them free! I use one coupon per transaction.

Skinnie - this is the nickname we gave to the £5 skincare vouchers. :rotfl:

Enough deodorant to last 5 years - when I get a good coupon from the ACM I press print over and over very quickly so I get as many as poss! I managed to print about 15 of each coupon (deo, 25% and 1/3 off shmpoo, 1/3 off shower gel, £2 off lippie/mascara, 200pts wys £15 on facial skincare etc etc) lol. This is a tip I learned from the Bootsers on here - I used to print only one of each!! :rotfl:

Scanning one coupon over and over - DO NOT DO THIS. It's one thing being able to play Boots at their own game legitimately - for example, they are the ones giving us the coupons and allowing multiples of each to be printed. But your suggestion would get you into BIG trouble. I would not recommend it. I have seen the SA on the SS tills giving me funny looks the last few days but I can hold my head up high as she has seen me scanning and depositing each and every coupon and, if I were ever stopped and challenged, I have a receipt for every item in my bag and they will find the correct number of coupons in the 'letterbox' with my name on them if they want to open it to check!

    HTH and happy Bootsing!!! :)

Thanks but OMG i would never dream of doing this i have enough vouchers to last me a lifetime, the store has 2 machines which let me have 3 each plus i went to another store where I alos got 3, my point was that the slot for the coupons should be more like the slot which takes notes-it sucks in the notes rather than just a hole- to ensure one coupon per item is used.

Also the guy that helped that was looking at me suspiciously seemed to be new and a shelf stacker rather than a cashier and he genuinely seemed shocked at the offer price of 28p for the dove, I made sure i saved all the receipts.

I borrowed my sisters advantage card yesterday (-rubbish offer of 200 points if spend over £30 since forever on mine) -(gave her half the dove's as thanks) she went in today to get some more for her daughters and her dove offer had disappeared. Oh well ces't la vie!

How do you manage that? I can never print more than 3 before the offer disappears! Also, I'm sick of my other offers - it seems to be forever that I have cat flea collar, vitamins etc. - things I've never bought. Never seen any make up or anything useful on my offers for months, despite spending over £100 on Gok and other 'beauty' offers!

yep same here, i spent 200+ in the sale
had to borrow my sisters but her dove offer only lasted one day-we got 9 in total-have shared them

This is really horrible! I have gone into boots for an exchange without the receipt before but I think I'll be afraid to in future! They obviously don't just check the transactions on your Boots card to see it's there.

Also, is there more to the story in your case? Is there a history of rudeness toward you at this store? Like, did you use a lot of coupons and do multiple purchases in this store over time, getting to where they followed you around whenever you came in? They still have no right to treat you badly, but I think it would help others to know how it happened, if it results from staff being suspicious of your bootsing habits.

Lots of Bootsers get so known in their local stores that the staff either get very friendly and know you by name, or else they get very suspicious and wonder what you're up to. And once you're in the latter category, they sometimes get very nasty indeed (based on the awful experiences a few people have posted on mse).

I can see where you're coming from here. At mt 3 local stores they know me well. I am always in boots. I would consider myself a super customer. I buy things from there that i know are cheaper elsewhere but i always think of 'the points' and the convenience. I know the names of most of the SA's, who's nice and who to avoid if i'm hoping for a glitch to go unnoticed at the till ;)
At one store the SA's were buzzing when i told them about the 90% sale. Defo no bad feeling there.
The store where is happened I haven't been to for 6 months, maybe more. I had been to my local argos after a mega-bargain ring for my ds for next xmas.

The SA checked stock and said it was only available in X or y. She reserved it for me at Y as it was the closest, about 8 miles away. Thats how i came to be there. Unfortunately i was now in a different county, when the police came they said they didn't have cells at the local station so we drove to the holding suite which was even further away from home.

  • Foxy-lady I am in total shock. That really is not something you expect to happen, not in a million years!!!
I hope to goodness you end up with some decent compensation as a sorry from boots. Awful, just awful.

I went to Boots today and had no money off at the acm at all. A couple if extra points vouchers and some pet thing but nothing of use. In my strop I forgot to check the clearance section.
It's a shame as im usually in a rush in boots as my 1 year old likes to pull everything off the shelves, first time she is happily zonked and I have nothing to peruse :-(

Oh well, hubs did then take me to Pandora and bought me 2 charms to make up for being abroad on valentines day so I'll get over it!!
If my words are missing letters then please excuse me....my keyboard is a tad dodgy!!

Foxy-lady I have just read this thread by chance and I too am utterly shocked. How absolutely terrible for you.

What shocks me most is, do Boots have such power over the police that with no evidence you can simply be arrested and held?! I can't believe this! Simply by Boots saying they suspect something called return fraud people can be arrested? I must sound really naive but you would think they would have to show evidence to the police etc, after all they don't work for Boots. Also, I am astounded that the security guard has such rights as to take your property and the like.

Really shocking and I am so sorry this happened to you. I have never heard anything like it before. Boots have a policy where you can take things back for an exchange without a receipt, and on the couple of times I have lost my receipt I wouldn't think twice about taking them back and exchanging in store. Now I would. If a store can have a policy, but then arrest you for it.....I just don't get it. Terrible.

Haven't been on this thread before but am an avid boots shopper

Foxy-lady, what an awful story, hope it all works out in the end but you must feel sick everytime you think about it.

My local boots has one older SA who is really lovely and when you pay she comes up with all sorts of ideas for how you can get more offers:D but some seem to resent you getting any offers at all:(.

Foxy lady this is just unbelievable! What store was this? I think tyoo you are taking it very well i'd have a breakdown and i think you should sue them if this is the whole story.
  • Foxy-lady, there is something very wrong about this. In the first instance, Boots have always said that without a receipt, they will exchange anything, with some exceptions, like cosmetics, or food.

Secondly, you said that the SA had given you a gift card and then, 10 seconds later, the security guard arrested you and contacted the police as he suspected refund fraud? Someone must have signalled for him to do so. Have you contacted Boots Customer Services about this? It seems outrageous.

Can I just add that if anyone posts on here with advice, such as not to try scanning the same coupon more than once, it's only because they have read horror stories on here in the past, and are trying to be helpful, not trying to take the moral high ground. :)

May I suggest that if any of us wish to return something, without a receipt, that we contact Customer Services first, explain the reasons why, and ask for a reference number. Then we can approach an SA, and state that we've spoken to CS, who have approved an exchange, or a gift card, and we have been given a number, proving our call.

Just trying to be helpful. :)
