  • I told the guy on the phone, Clive, that I'm taking them to Court and reporting this to the Financial Ombusman.....All the response I got from him was, "Sorry, sorry, yes I can quite understand, sorry, sorry, sorry."

On 13th December 2010, I took out a new motor insurance policy .......Nine weeks later I receive an ominous letter from Direct Line ..... Anyway, it's in the hands of the financial ombudsman now........

Top marks go to FOS. They can move when the customer has been so badly treated!

Do tell us how you going to manage to get them to take this over within minutes of you getting the ominous letter. (13/12/10 + 9 weeks = 14/2/11)
  • Thanks for the link!

It was worse than that. I sent them my proof of NCB to which they said they had recieved. They just felt like bumping up the premium by £1,700 - no explanation given! No explanation would suffice anyway if one was offered!
  • Sarahjayne1977 - you don't work for direct line do you?
Nah i do not work for them!! just cos i say i not had a issue, you say i work for them!

Most Insurers have various audit reports, which are looked at by a technical team, to check the policies set up by their sales teams.

A decision has obviously been made by a team leader or supervisor within the technical team to contact the OP, to see if they can get away with changing the terms the sales person has incorrectly offered.

Hence why the OP needs to raise this with a manager or complaints team to force Direct Line to honour what they originally agreed.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
