    Hi all,
I am going through my statements from 2001 to date, which arrived in only 30 days from Aliiance and Leicester (amazing!). In addition to many unauthorised daily overdraft charges which I am sure I can claim, there are also several £10 or 25 'monthly OD charges'. I have read through lots of the posts and many people have accepted these charges but as I have never had an agreed overdraft facility on this account should I claim them back? I don't have the terms and conditions and scale of charges, is it possible that the monthly OD charge is fair and therefore likely to slow my claim if included?
    Hope someone can help.
    Thank you
  • If you have never had an arranged over draft facility with them I would add them on to it, if they do not agree with them they will let you know, I cant see it holding it up,

    hi,

i have two current accounts with A&L. one is hardly used but have one direct debit coming out (which i have now stopped). i received my bank statements today for this account and found that i went £7.09 overdrawn on the 7 April. my statement is dated the 12 April but, as i have said, not received until today - the 18!!! i have been advsied that i am now going to be charged £50 on the 28 April for going overdrawn for 5 days. i phoned them and was warned that if i do not pay the £7.09 in today (which i will straight away) then i will incur a further £50 charges. i wa snot aware that i had gone overdrawn, if i was then i would have paid the amount immediately and only been charged £25 (which is still too much) and then been finished with the matter.

    what can i do!
  • hi all!

I'm new to this particular thread, and I have been reading it with interest. I am already reclaiming from Barclays and MBNA and now reclaiming from A & L. I have just received my statements this morning and have totted up the charges (£1237 without interest £1438.57 with interest).

My question is this - A & L closed my account at the end of Aug 2005 as it was overdrawn by 671.93. They have never done anything about reclaiming this money, and have not contacted me since sending a letter saying that they were closing the account (tbh I buried my head in the sand about it) Do you think that they will pay me anything back? Obviously I want to clear the overdraft, but can't do that unless they let me reclaim back the charges.

Just wondered what any of you think.

    Thanks

    lil x

Someone posted on here a short while back to say they claimed for monthly OD charges with A&L and got them all back, so certainly worth trying ... I amicon7.gif

  • lil-bit-skint, I am over drawn on an A & L account and the account has been closed for a year, and I am claiming from them, I have an arangement set up with them though paying back a bit each month, but I wondered why for every payment I made to them they banged on 50% interest, turns out I have got another bank account overdrawn with them and they never told me, I only found out coz I asked for last 6yrs statements, I closed my account and then they banged aload of charges on and on a back sheet of paper with the statements that they sent me they had a list of statement's that have never been issued to me, these clearly show that I was never informed that I was over drawn on the account. I have spoke to CAB about this and they cant do it, if worst come to worst and I dont win, CAB have said they will take this further, the interest they are adding on one account is then paid into the other account to lower that, if they had told me I owed them money I would of set up an arrangement with them. As the days go by I hate A & L more and I am more determined to WIN.

Aaarh Becks, sorry you didn't see iticon9.gif I decided to try after reading it 'cos they make up so much of the claim, but there's obviously no guarantee they'll pay up in my case and I'm pretty sure there are a number of threads stating they're not claimable. I'll keep you posted ...

  • Yes keep me posted, I have put 2 charges on my claim that have already been paid back to me, but as it doesnt state which one they pay off I added them any way, rather than take off the two wrong one's and then they take off the two that they have paid me back aswell. It has now got to the point though where i need to send them a letter threatening them with court action (7 days to reply) but I go on holiday in 12days time for 1 week, and really cant afford to start court proceeding before I go, so it is holding me up,
