Yes keep me posted, I have put 2 charges on my claim that have already been paid back to me, but as it doesnt state which one they pay off I added them any way, rather than take off the two wrong one's and then they take off the two that they have paid me back aswell. It has now got to the point though where i need to send them a letter threatening them with court action (7 days to reply) but I go on holiday in 12days time for 1 week, and really cant afford to start court proceeding before I go, so it is holding me up,

I also included one "Account Interest Charge" by mistake ... it's such a huge list of charges, I'm hoping they'll miss this one, but suppose they're quite likely to come back querying this and possibly the OD charges just to delay matters. We'll see ....
    Wins since 2009 = £17,600

    MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS

Today, I am going to start my first steps in reclaiming unfair bank charges against Alliance & Leicester.
If all goes well, then I will reclaim against Lloyds TSB (a full 6 years, so a lot of charges) later on.

I have a few questions first....

    1) It is best to close the accounts(one premier account & one savings) down today? They only have a total of £3.93 in them. That way no more £5.00 underfunding fee.

    2) I have two seperate charges of £34 for unpaid direct debits. At the time I phoned them and they refunded 50% back, so do I only claim £17 for each charge(plus interest)?

    3) I opened my account online, so my branch address is the one in Bootle, Merseyside, GIR 0AA.
Do I use this address for all the letters? I have a record of all my charges from my bank statements. so the first letter I am sending is to ask for all the charges back.

Just a quick update, but I have now started the claim(only £209 + interest, but hey it's my money)....

    1) I've phoned them and settled my account to show £0.00 balance. They said it takes 7 to 10 days to close the account. They will confirm this in writing.

    2) I've only claimed back £17 plus interest.

    3) After reading the help thread, I've posted to the Leicestershire Head Office because I already have bank statements with a list of charges, so no need to request statements.

In the coming few weeks, I hope to claim against Lloyds TSB (a full 6 years worth of charges).
  • Thank you Mimijane,

Does anybody know how much the court costs are, I am claiming back for £770 and £1,875.00, or where can I find this information, also where do I find out which court it will go to so I can put it on the 3rd letter, threatening court action

Yeah hi, i to have been claiming my money back from the said bank and i have found out that the cost is, anything from £500 - £1000 it is £80 and anything from £1000 to £1500 is £120 but you will get this back when you win.
This i am just about to do .

Becks ... it's just cost me £120 to start court proceedings through MCOL and I'm claiming for just over £3k (excluding interest).

I gather that, if the bank file a defence and you have to complete an Allocation Questionnaire (often not required now), it costs an extra £100. Let's hope we don't get the AQ:rolleyes:

    Hope this helps.

wow, i didnt realise we would have to pay another £100 if they filed a defence, A & L are always filling a defence by the sounds of things on here, will have to tell OH about that one, you get that figure back as well dont you?

    Thank you eyeball0001 and Mimijane

The extra £100 is only required if you have to fill in an AQ form as far as I'm aware so, if the bank state their intention to defend and you don't get an AQ, you don't have to pay it.

I'm pretty sure you get all court costs back ... it does cost an extra £35 to make an amendment to the MCOL form though, so take great care, wouldn't have thought this would be reimbursed!

It won't accept the A&L postcode GIR 0AA

I've tried loads of different ways of typing it without success.

Can anyone help i'm sat here and can't continue?
