If your happy with the amount on the cheque than except, if not return it and state your after the full amount. OFT has not set a £12 limit for charges and there is a letter that states that somewhere in this forum.

It's a delay tatic eitherway and you should stick to your MCOL if you wish to send the chque back.

No I'm not happy, the offer is laughable really, I understand there is a £12 limit on credit cards, and they refair to this as a credit card but its a premier current account.

I bought my first house in April and opened a new account (as per Martin's advice) - the A&L Premier Direct account with a £1000 o/draft which I desparately needed.

So we all know what an expense it is to get on the housing ladder, and I've incurred £547 worth of overdraft charges and failed DD default charges between May and October 2006.

I've opened a new account, sent my two letters to A&L, received their standard responses (as others have noted) so I have now claimed my money online with Moneyclaim.

I'll keep you posted as there seems to be a distinct lack of people that have claimed from A&L and I'm certainly anxious!

 I do agree there are very few ppl commenting on taking on the A&L I have just recieved correspondence from them stating the same as those above................
    BUT
I Will not be letting it deter me If I have to go to court I will:D

I took on the credit union last year (as they added almost £400 onto the balance of my loan) The judgement went in my favour
IT was a small claims court and not as SCAREY as I had imagined:T :T Just GO FOR IT!!

    Thanks
    Neil.

Heres a tip, Take your local A+L branch to court, I'm in Northern Ireland also, if you don't you'll wait about a month and think your getting somewhere only to receive a letter from Northern Ireland courts service saying its an outside Jurisdiction and different laws etc apply and you have a few things to sign, so basically you wait a month and the court papers haven't even been sent out to Alliacne and leicester in England.

I filed against my local branch and the papers where sent out in 2 days.

I believe Narborough is the Head Office address, which is the one which should be used when your case is progressing. It's certainly the address I've used.icon7.gif
    Wins since 2009 = £17,600

    MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS

    Hi,

This forum has a hack of a lot of good info...but does anyone have any experience of claiming more than the £5000 smalls claimis limit.

I totaled my charges up and with interest it comes to just under £8000 and am not too sure wether to lower the ammout to £5000 and go for the risk free option of the smalls claims court or try and go for the full sum.

I've already got my first reply from A&L saying the charges were lawful and I'm considering sending a further letter offering them a discount for paying up early.

    Anyone got any tips:beer:

I wonder can I keep this cheque as part payment and tell them I will take this as part settlement but will continue to persue them through court for the rest or should I just send it back??
