I am having BIG problems with A & L. I have sent several letters, got the print out from them of the charges and have now been told that they are not willing to pay out as "you agreed to our charges when you opened your account"! The call centre operatives are all trained to say "no" very firmly. My next step is the small claims avenue but as I live in Scotland, I'm going to have to raise 2 small claims. I have the feeling they will fight it tooth and nail.

A&L do appear to be very stubborn but they also, in the vast majority of cases and after stating their intent to defend, pay out before it gets as far as court. Go for it ... you will get your money back.icon7.gif

I rang A & L on the 39th day, they made out they hadnt received a letter from me, but when I stated that the obviously had as they had cashed my cheque 2 weeks prior, they promised to have them with me the next day, and the next morning they were on my door step

I agree with Mimijane, they are paying up, they are just trying to pull a fast one, hoping that people havent looked to much into it, by sending a letter stating that it is in your terms & conditions they are hoping it will put alot of people off, I received the same letter the other day and it got me thinking intill I posted on here yesterday and Mimijane put my mind to rest, if you read back through the posts other members have put what response they have received from a&l and it is just a bog standard letter to everyone, mine stated in my letter to watch that I dont go overdrawn in future to stop the charges, well that would be hard A&L the account has been closed for a year, they really do not think before sending them out.

    Hi,

There's a large section on Alliance & Leicester on the second page (at the moment), which should help you. Sorry, for some reason I'm not able to copy and paste the link for you.
