  • I'm claiming money from A&L to the tune of a whopping £263  I recieved a letter stating"
I can confirm that the charges have been applied correctly in line with the Terms and Conditions of your account, and as such, I regret I am unable to a agree a refund on this occasion."

I understand this is just blabber to put you off, the only thing is that I want to keep this account with A&L, it's meant to be the best account around so I don't want them to close it. I was gonna reply with an early settlement of £160 this way I'll be happy as I've got some of the money and my account should be left as is.

Do you think this'll be ok, or would they possibly still close my account?

    Cheers.

The letter is standard and no they shouldnt close your account. This only seems to happen with second claims.
They took my signature away!!!!

I sent A&L first letter and within a week (just noticed today) on 10th March they had refunded £109 worth of charges (applied for £193) no letter or anything - (don't really use the account just had it to save money in before baby came as it has high interest rate) so am tempted to phone asking about the rest of it. Wonder why they are not consistent??
  • Hi my first time on a thread, hope im doin right!
I have been sending letters etc, to my bank since
Dec '06 after obviously seeing Martins great work,
and i actually have issued them now with the
county courts forms. I received a reply saying that
they are going to defend all of the claim. So i have
now got to await the 28 days, to see what they are
are going to do. Fingers crossed for £1100. Please.

I am helping my son claim from A & L and have read most of these threads, He got a notice of acknowledgement from the court, then two days later got a notice of Issue from A & L saying they are going to defend, So that gives them 28 days i presume !! looking at other replies they pay up before the 28days but if they don't file a response or defence at the 28 days, i know he wins automatically, but what if they do, or if they don't WHAT HAPPENS NEXT ???? HELP Please:confused:

29 days, that is good, is that with A&L, all the threads i have read, A&L have took ages to do anything, it took them 2 weeks just to cash my cheque, Good Luck

    Hey becks,

Yes this was with A&L. I had rung them up when i noticed the cheque had cleared but I havent had to chase them at all.

THey did turn up as statements as opposed to just a list of charges, but it only took me about an hour to go through them last night and drop them all into an excel spreadsheet. All my charges total up to around £2,200 without interest so i'm sending the first letter off today!

I gave them a call a day or two after they cashed the cheque and its taken them 29 days (and it took them about a week to cash it) from the day they cashed it, so be prepared to wait, I dont think hassling them will speed it up really.

Haven't seen an email address but I got a letter with my statements from:

    A Murtagh
    Customer Services

    Who gave his address as:

    Carlton Park, Narborough, Leicester
    LE19 0AL

Personally, i would wait until you get close to the 40days but maybe give them a quick call and ask about it.

  • Thank you eyeball0001 Just think of the interest you could have on that, i am claiming with interest only for the fact that what is the worst that happens they say no and then they think they are getting a real bargain, well that is the plan any way, plus if it was to go to court they would have to pay Interest anyway
Experian credit score as of Feb 2016 - 116
[STRIKE]Final payment towards council tax arrears (was £417) Feb 2016
Final payment towards Vanquis Bank (CCJ - was £287) Feb 2016[/STRIKE]
    NRAM (arrears £ )
    Accenden (arrears £7505, payment plan £600 p/m)

I am claiming interest too - the whole claim with A&L comes to around £2600 and I'm going the route of offering to take it without interest 'without prejudice'. If they dont go with that then i'll go to court and have the lot!

Also claiming againts HSBC - about £1600 inc. interest.
