hi 2 hapennys,
filed my claim at MCOL on 26/01/07. i too recieved the acknowledgement on 31/1. MCOL stating same as you. only thing i heard was when i recieved this letter (10/1) from A&L about the £50.77 refund. just gonna ignore it. are they seriously thinking im gonna drop the claim for £50? im sure we'll get paid out in full in the last few days.
do u know what happens if on the 28th day they say 'we wanna defend'? how long have we got to prepare our case? if it does go to court, dont wanna turn up without being ready. i just dont want them to file a defence, and the court date is set for the next day or two.
btw, how do u manage to rack up £5k in charges over 6 years?!! i thought my claim was alot!!0 -
Hi
I filed on the 25/1.
Looking throught the other threads it dosent look like A&L put in a defence, but pay up at the last minute. If dfence is entered we will have to fill out an allocations questionniare, they you get a court date set by the court, it seems they are snowed under with these claims, and dates are now in April time, so should have ample time to prepare.
Both my oh and me got lost are jobs, it was a very bad time, i asked them to help ie extend my od, but was flatly refused, and it took a while to get back on top of things, but it snowballs and you can never get back to where you were.0 -
so i suppose its possible for A&L to defend, knowing the case wont get heard till april at earliest, making them a few more thousand in interest, and then they could settle on the doorstep.
lets hope we both get paid out then. unfortunately my reasons for incurring these charges werent as necessary as yours. but back in the day, i knew that in supping all those pints of carling i was investing in my future...0 -
Is it worth trying to claim back £50 if I actually want to keep the account? Trouble is it has a good interest rate and my charges are only small and I've made more than my charges back in a year from current account interest so should I just swallow it?Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

lol fil, I am sure those pints were needed at the time.....
I hope they dont, that would be a very dirty tactic on there part, I might edge my bets and say we will both get a cheque on the 17th.. got everything crossed.0 -
well here goes stage 4 letter, threatening court action and new total £2757.47 including interest. Lets see what happens now. If they had already paid out it would have saved themselves £68. never mind there loss and my gain hopefully.Alliance & Leicester.
Paid up 14/04/07 Full amount + interest + costs0 -
Well here goes. I have today registered my claim with MOL for for £5090 including the cost of the court fees. I guess that means about a month before I have my money back. I decided to split the claim to stay within the small claims limit.0

I have just received this letter!!
Thank you for contacting us regarding charges raised against your account, which I was sorry to learn has been the cause of dissatisfaction.
I have reviewed the circumstances in which the charges were raised and can confirm that they have been applied to your account correctley in accordance with our charging policy. I regret, therefore, that I am unable to arrange a refund to your account on this occasion.
Thank you for your correspondence.
What should I do now??
Do I put a claim in with the courts... or that moneyclaim website Martin has suggested??
Has anyone else had this problem??
I dont actually bank with them anymore and asked to be paid by cheque... does this make a difference??
Also when I claim through moneyclaim will I have to do the interest calculator all over again as I sent the 2 copies I had to Alliance & Leicester
I have claimed £5230 -
if that was the reply to your first letter then send the second letter threatening court action. if was a reply to the second letter then carry on with the claim.
