Hi Tugrin
Well done on taking some positive steps to deal with things:TTry to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
Hi Tugrin, glad to hear about the EDF tariff. I changed just before Christmas, but only after I saw something on here.
I understand your fear about changing to a water meter. I have had one so long (except for the expensive 8 months prior to getting one again), that saving water is second nature to me now. Plus, water rates are the highest in the country where I am, and set to go up again, so at least I can monitor my water...and if needs be go to my daughter's for shower! The worst bit is watering the plants in the summer, but I may get a water butt.
I'm sorry about your job. Maybe as Eric'sMum suggests, you could talk to the woman concerned again?
Do have a look at the old style saving forum and the vouchers forums...I managed a food shop, including dog food, of around £17 but with vouchers, it came to £9.

Thanks for the support Eric's Mum, Byatt and CH27 - I do feel a sense of achievement for the things I have managed to get on with but the money is still worrying me. I am in process of changing from the account with the huge overdraft to the Norwich and Peterborough building society - thought everything was going smoothly and got a letter yesterday saying they would be taking my mortgage payment (its with them anyway) on the 25th March. Logged on to account this afternoon and discovered they took it out yesterday and have put me £415 in the RED - not at all helpful. When things like that happen I go into panic mode again and don't know what to do.
School isn't going to change until the head retires - its a HE by the way and he is a totally autistic type so talking to him wouldn't do the least bit of good as he says what he thinks you want to hear at the time and then goes off and does exactly what he was going to do anyway. He is very anti all the older teachers (probably feels threatened by us) and would like us all to resign. He is trying to find a way of getting me out to put it bluntly and I have to be very careful what I do or say. I may well take you up on your invitation to have a post school rant E''s Mum but probably it will be better to focus on all the other things that make life better -saving money - cooking really cheap meals - hunting for vouchers (can't wait to explore that bit of the site don't know why I have been so slow on the uptake there!)
Spring is surely on the way and I will be starting to think about the garden soon too.debt free 2021 at current DMP rate (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0 -
EEK! New bank account with Norwich&Peterborough have taken my mortgage a month too soon. I had a letter at the beginning of last week saying that they had the new details of my new account and first payment would go out on 25th March. I have just logged in to find they did it on the 25th of FEB putting me in the red almost up to my limit!!!!! What on earth should I do in the face of such daftness? It feels like just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water........... EVERY TIME I think I have things sorted something else goes wrong . PLUS I have had my wrist slapped by the head for 'being rude' to the girl who they made my line manager!!!!!! Seriously - a meeting to discuss what I said to her yesterday but he cant be bothered to follow up the fact that 2 other members of staff have had accusations of 'manhandling' against them by a child- Im sorry but what is MORE IMPORTANT me being short with someone or the possibility of 2 people being suspended because of false accusations! Its obvious hes got it in for me. Everything is just s*** and I want to give up and hide under a duvet for evermore.debt free 2021 at current DMP rate (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0

Have you paid twice in February now? If so, can you contact your BS and ask for refund? Also complain to bank immediately, especially as they had sent you a letter confirming details for March! They have made the error and need to correct it.
It does seem like 2 steps forward, 1 step back... deep breaths...
If the "girl" went running to the head to complain, then she really shouldn't be a line manager. Isn't she supposed to manage?! Maybe you will just have to apologise and be sweet; try and play them at their own game perhaps.
Have you seen your GP about the stress?0 -
Thanks for being so supportive Byatt - you are of course right she shouldn't be a line manager but he chose her over me so I guess they feel they have a 'special connection'! I saw my previous GP about the stress and am on anti-depressant which my new doc has authorised as a repeat prescription but I haven't discussed any of my stress issues with him, I have an unpin-downable pain which I saw him about and I need to go back to him about that so I could talk to him then - I really do feel like just not going in tomorrow (or the next day or the next - you know how it is).
I will call bank as soon as poss - but I hate doing stuff like that at work and I live so far away I often dont get home before 5 so little building soc. places are shut.debt free 2021 at current DMP rate (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0 -
I know it's tough to be in that position at work. I have been there, though I was younger then. I know my friends in their 50's are either having a hard time at work (boss wants them out) or are unable to find work. It may be a good idea to mention to your Dr when you see him. Are you a member of a union? I don't know if there's anything they can do to support you?
PM me if you want to chat anytime.0 -
Hi everyone,
Back to school this week has been very hard and dispiriting as the
head ratchets up the pressure. Just thought I'd check back in to
say I had 2 NSDlast week and have been feeding the sealed pot so
at least I have had a little victory there. Everyone except Barclays
OK about the DMP (one might almost say blase as they must have
dozens of these cases a week at the mo.) However the glooms just
dont seem to want to go and I am finding it difficult to get
thorough a day without crying. I know there won't be anyone
around this evening but any one with good vegetarian recipes
sweet or savoury please let me know ( I have been on the OS board
but am hoping that something really special might get me into
cooking which might lift the spirits a bit - been living on beans on
toast all week.debt free 2021 at current DMP rate (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0 -
Hi Tugrin - sorry to hear you've had such a rubbish week - it sounds very hard and like you're depressed - hopefully the meds will kick in or maybe you need to alter the dose a little - you really need to have a chat with your doctor on this one.
Living on beans and toast can't be very good for youWhat sort of thing do you like? How about making a cheese sauce and cooking some pasta (or macaroni?) and doing a macaroni cheese? Today I made cheese scones which were dead easy and very yummy - but not very healthy - ah well. I had fried veg and cous couse for tea - again dead easy - make up some couse couse with a bit of stock and while it's cooking fry some quorn if you have some, a selection of veg in a little oil -anything you have in the fridge is good -carrots, mushrooms, pepper - peas/sweetcorn out of the freezer - cook it up and chuck on the cous cous- soy sauce optional
Hope some of that appeals to you - you could always try the BBC food website or good food website if there is something you fancy and you need the recipe for.
I'm glad the NSD's are going well and the dmp seems to be falling in to place.

Hey Tugrin,
Sorry to hear you're having a poop week. I went through some terrible work stuff a few years back and developed acute anxiety disorder as a result - I was referred by my GP to the community psychiatric nurse and she did some CBT with me which really helped, it may be worth asking what there is available? You do need to talk through the stress stuff with people, I didn't and ended up really unwell.
I made pancakes the other night - really lifted my spirits - I had them traditional with lemon and sugar. Have you eggs? Omelettes are always good. What about rock buns - with lots of cinnamon, ginger etc? I also made some spicy carrot soup this week and used stale crusts to make homemade garlic croutons (were surprisingly nice)!
Hang in there.0
