I'm worried that I'm not doing this posting thing right - am I just replying to myself all the time - why has everyone stopped talking to me? I am very bad at this social networking thing as I hate facebook and twitter etc usually only use e mail - think I might be talking to myself.......

Hi Tugrin, responses seem to come in bunches, rather like buses.. you aren't talking to yourself and there are lots of folk cheering you on from the sidelines, honest! Can you eBay anything - you'd be amazed at what people buy, and it helps "declutter" if you find you just collect stuff. Do you have a garden that you can grow veggies in, thus saving money and keeping gently active?
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

    Hi satchmo1
OK that a relief - I was being serious I am so new to this osting mullarkey that I really thought I was probably just putting things u that only I could see! Yes I do have a garden - that was the main reason I moved out of the city - and I do grow things this year they will def. be more edible than ornamental. I have been planning today in fact to make growing space bigger and I appreciate your sentiments about keeping gently active Very Much, thank you; sometimes I just go at things like a bull at a gate and then regret it for about a week.!
Will start gently digging at weekend , weather permitting.

How are you today? It takes a while to get used to posting, but it's also good to read other posts. I do that a lot. Sometimes I post too.

I've also looked at the old style thread for shopping and food ideas! It's excellent. I have had 2 no spend days this week as a result, because I have used what I have in the fridge/store cupboard, and I have an idea for dinner tomorrow, which means I only have to buy 1-2 potatoes and some cheese.

Also, I have looked up my local college for hair dressing, well it's 25 miles way, but I go there once a week for my CBT, so will combine in the day, as a cut & blow dry is £12!!

I've started a saving £1 a day, loose change and a virtual £5 per month.

Let us know how you are doing?

    :)

SOmetimes the forum is a bit quiet so no-one replies (friday night can be dire) , and sometimes it is very busy and your thread will end up on page 20!

If you post up information on changes you are considering or tell us other bits that you want to know about, folk will respond.

Also do explore other sections of the forus like Money Saving Old Style etc, as there is loads of information to pick up, checkout and discuss.

Well done for tracking down the cheap hairstylists Byatt - mine needs doing but I'm just scraping it into a ponytail at the moment. I have had no 'no-spend' days since Sunday - mainly because I am constantly buying petrol. I have spent £47 this week! Its ridiculous that its costing me more than I send on food for me and the dogs. I am getting very depressed by it all - the house looks so tatty and I feel unable to cope with even housework let alone DIY at the moment.
RAS - I can believe that Friday nights can be a dead zone - all those people out there having fun (or at least temporarily not worrying about things)
but I'm a stay at home type so I'm here!!
Can either of you or anyone else advise about the possibility of paying more to the credit card company that charges the most even though CCCS is doing and even handed everyone gets an equal share type DMP. Does it break the terms of the DMP? WOuld it be better to save a lump sum and pay it to CCCS? Should I just pay a little bit more on my mortgage to get that down and keep a roof over my head when I retire in case I am still in debt?

I agree about the petrol, it is dire now especially when you live in a rural area. I don't know what to suggest in that area as you have to get to work. I am sure you have thought of car sharing etc...

I know with my DMP I have to pay equally to all. I am sure others with more knowledge will post soon.

Hi Tugrin, as you are in a semi-rural area would you be able to offer anyone a lift to, or part way to, where you work and share petrol costs? I agree they are horrendous. I'm lucky in that I can walk to work if necessary, I'm feeling doubly lucky tonight as I've just finished working for the organisation's worst boss and am moving into a similar position for a scatty but great guy. Had to put in about an extra 10 hours (unpaid) to make sure just the "urgent" work got finished, but I don't care 'cos I feel as if I've just been released from prison, hurray! Sorry for hi-jacking, I just had to share :)

    Hi Tugrin,

I see you live in East Anglia - are you within reasonable distance of Chelmsford where I live, becasue I would be pleased to give you a hand with practical things such as deep cleaning the bathroom (grouting etc) and tidying the garden etc.

    Hello Everyone
I have self-levelled the kitchen floor today and although shattered I feel as if I have atually achieved something!!!
I have to make the token payment tomorrow to MBNA, John Lewis and Barclaycard before the Halifax get wind of me having a DMP and freeze the account. Really helpful lady at the CCCS said NOT to give creditors any details of my new current account and that sounds like very good sense.
Also managed to cash £10 worth of 5 pence pieces which I intend to live on for the next 3 days if I can.
