Byatt I do the same ...fill my virtual basket then make myself close the page down!

While ago I bought my 2nd breadmaker, an expensive panasonic (would you believe it's my second one...I bought one before, got bored and flogged it for next to nothing at a car boot, then I bought another one!) Just spending for spending's sake. The new one has been in the cupboard gathering dust and realised all my yeast, bread flour is going/gone out of date so made some pizza bases and a loaf for the freezer. Determined not to waste things any more.

Well done on the overpayment. Been checking my bank against the same time of the month in previous months and can see there is a lot more money still left which is really motivating!

Haven't managed to do spending diary but do envelopes with cash for different things which seems to work well at the moment.

    Happy saturday!

Byatt we now have a stairgate! used my little mans birthday/christmas £10 argos voucher so it only cost us 7.42 in the end lol so hopefully no more toilet rolls down the loo, as we had another 1 down yesterday! that was 4 in total! more then a weeks worth of toilet roll wasted! (i mean i know it gets wasted anyway but im sure you get what i mean) lol

We have had some good news (see my thread had some good news for once) we had a bit of an indulgent treat today, bought some reduced rolls in morrisons pack of 6 large wholemeal baps special offer price 50p reduce turkey breast deli meat 79p 100g (cost 1.70 for 6 slices) and then we got cream cakes and a cake each for the kids from greggs! To be honest i think my eyes were too big for my belly, i couldnt even eat all my fresh cream belgium bun in one go!

Vicky, I'm getting better at closing down the virtual shopping baskets and I'm beginning to recognise the correlation between my emotional state and shopping. I mean, in a general sense I have always recognised it, but usually later rather than sooner, but at the moment I can see the immediate connection. I say at the moment, because I am hyper aware, it's when I relax that I am likely to forget. I have lots of gadgets in my cupboards!! I haven't started the envelopes with cash yet, but intend to.

secretshopper, I have a blanket at home and I have been known to wear a hat and scarf indoors!! :rotfl:

CJ, good idea about the stairgate and you got a bargain! My daughter used to empty all the shampoo bottles etc which got very expensive! I saw your good news thread, brilliant. :T

I woke up today with an awful sore threat and tonsills that felt like grapes, I could barely swallow. It does explain why I have been feeling so cold for the last few days, as it seems I have some sort of bug. I'm not eating so definitely ill! I haven't had something like this for a long, long time, and don't know where I got it from. Also last night I read my daughter's texts (it sounds an awful thing to do, but I need to keep an eye on things because of her special needs)...and saw she was on a dating site again. :( Extremely worrying as in the past she has tried to meet up with these men. I talked to her about it again, but not sure if she will listen. Had some very scary things happen in the past and I thought she had matured enough not to do it again. Her support workers let her get an all singing, all whistling phone despite me saying it was not a good idea, but then I'm just her mum, what do I know. My immediate reaction was to shop my way out of the feelings I had, but this time didn't.

Aww sorry you're feeling poorly Byatt :( good news on the spending diary front though! My rats are so sweet, they're like little terriers vying for my attention sometimes. My ex was the same with the way he abused me, it was very much power to him, and other things. I've not got my tattoo yet, waiting to budget it sensibly out of next month's pay.

    Feel better soon! x

Hi Byatt / Cj, re loos - still probs, we put a hose down it but still blocked so it's gonna have to come off for a look:mad: Keep asking DD what she has put down it in-case she fesses up. Sometimes she will!

Well done Ali-T on closing down that basket! Been soooo good but you're right Byatt it's when you relax that you blink and realise you have already done it! Then I will just have to pack it all up and send it back! I am so determined this time!

Here's a trick - been making sure I am full before doing food shopping, even if in a rush I make myself little sandwich to eat in car on the way!:A

Byatt, hoped you enjoyed the full benefit of the heating at you DD's (that was you I read wasn't it??!!) I am getting in bath in a bit try and defrost my toes. Been trying to get the dog to lie on them but he keeps moving:D

Back to work tom (booo) enjoy your sunday evening all xx

Byatt so sorry to hear your not well, my throat feels like i've been swallowing golf balls too, though i haven't got tonsils so i know its not them lol My little man has been keeping me awake last couple of mornings, up 4.45 one morning 6.35 this morning, was nice to bed at a reasonable time tonight, maybe the nice long walk we had this afternoon has helped! As i know i feel cream crackered n just about ready for bed myself.

Byatt, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I think there's a lot of it going about at the minute, I'm loaded with the cold, and keep hearing of friends/family who are ill too.

Wasn't on over the weekend, but didn't spend too much either. I had to go to Tesco for some toilet roll, razors (my friend 'borrowed' mine in London) and anti-histamines so I spend most of my last £10, but I know I have another £10 in the bank until payday in case something comes up. That'll do me til then, all bills are paid and cupboards are full so not all bad :)

I really get what you guys mean about shopping, then thinking about why you did it after. I shop out of boredom sometimes, or low self-esteem. You know, oh if I get that top I'll be more trendy etc. But it never works does it? I unsubscribed from all online shopping emails so I'm not tempted and if I get bored in work/at home I come on here instead. Or try to!

One thing I have to sort out now is if I can get a refund on a bridesmaid dress, will definitely be seeing about that. The old bratzy might not have bothered but the new one is on the ball!
