BBC News: Credit and debit card surcharges 'are excessive'
Comments
-
I don't think you will find a BA flight for 1p......but...
If you pay by debit card the price you see is the price you pay -including a seat, bag, refreshments, etc.
A more important factor is if something goes wrong - just look at the number of threads on this site about how Ryanair have treated passengers and the difficulty of getting recompense and or assistance. If your still not convinced look on Airline Quality they are not rated 2 stars for nothing.
What about Fuel Duty Surcharge?0 -
What about Fuel Duty Surcharge?
What about it? It's bad but doesn't make card fees right. Fuel surcharges are down to unexpectedly sharp increases in costs, card fees are not.
Card fees on Ryanair are not proportionate to the cost of administering card payments- they are per flight not per transaction.
The flight fee should include everything that is not optional. Including tax- that's an operating expense of running an airline.
Card fees are only technically optional as the payment method you can use without these fees is incredibly obscure.0 -
I've just seen that Which have published a page where you can make a pledge to support their campaign against unfair airline card charges (drip pricing):
which.co.uk/ripoff
I don't agree it's unfair- basically you'd pay the same if they rolled the fees into the flight price.
I do agree it makes things irritating, and makes keeping track of prices tricky, even for the reasonably savvy.0 -

They be obscure in your opinion, however they are avoidable, unlike the Fuel Surcharge that BA and others make, Ryanair of course do not make any fuel surcharges.0 -

Whats your take on the numerous threads on here relating to the Customer Service from Ryanair when something goes wrong ?
They seem to give a whole new meaning to "avoidable " when it comes to helping and compensating stranded passengers
IE They avoid the passengers and avoid paying up :eek:0 -
But you conceed you can get there on a non RyanAir flight, correct?
Not correct. Not from the UK mainland. At no point did I claim direct routing; I was very clear about that.
You have alternatives, hence my point stands.
No, you were not clear about that. You introduced that claim after you were proved wrong about your intitial remarks. You made the mistake of relying on Wikipedia for your information, which turned out to be incorrect.
You made a claim which was proved to be wrong but you don't have the maturity or the balls to concede that you were wrong. Now you are squirming and resorting to fallacious arguments in a vain attempt to recover some credibility. Its not working because everyone here can see what you wrote and know what you meant. Its really quite sad to watch.0 -
No, you were not clear about that.
Utter nonsense. My original claim was;If you can highlight a destination where RyanAir are the only airline which fly to then you'd have a point. Otherwise there is always another option, albeit an indirect one.
Which part of that is inaccurate? You continue to change your stance in this situation in a lame attempt to avoid the simple arguement which I am making. You just don't appear to like the facts in this situation. You brought up the 'direct from the UK' condition after your arguement had been blown apart. I never made such a claim.
I challenge you again to counterargue my point, and not some other random point I'm not making.
If you don't like RyanAir then don't use them - my stance is pretty straight forward, and there are always alternatives.Legal team on standby0
