I've seen complaints from people who have tried to phone, only to find that all the items are gone before their phone even completes dialling - why? Because all the items were being sold via the web because it runs a few seconds ahead of digital tv, enabling those online to get a head start. Now that came from another forum where people were debating it amongst themselves so its not coming from the channels - so it seems that there isn't an easy answer as whichever approach they take someone is going to be unhappy - given the phone revenues its hardly surprising they aren't going to leave those customers at a disadvantage.
it is kind of the problem, but there are ways of exploiting the phone, eg were 1 phone buyer uses 2 phones, also the problem is if they didnt lock the phones then both would be able to buy at the same time, there are ways around rather than just blocking the web from buying, and those that are buying more than 1 need stopping0 -

Wealdroam - Sit up tv are the umbrella company for Bid TV price Drop TV and Speed auction TV.
Rollernutty are you going to answer the question asked of you RE this
you are of course aware that a shop of any osrt can refuse to sell anyone anything in said shop... No matter if they are disabled or even an alien.
Mind you if Stephen hawking can use the phone write books and talk then why cant you use the phone? Or even a textphone? Or is it that you dont want to pay the phone call charge..
Yes, I bet you thats it. But if your quick you can play the racist card too as that will be a lot more powerful then the disabled card
i did not say i could use the phone, as for the £1.53 revenue it probably is that reason, hence i will happily give them the £1.53 + £1 + p+p most of the stuff they sell they are struggling to sell now anyway, why as it can be got elsewere cheaper,
why the racism side bought in?
as prevously stated people do also flaunt the phone system! so it is not just the web who needs punishing then! it is those who are being rude and getting more than 1 of the same, that need stopping0 -

No - with Skype you can call from your PC to any number assuming you have the credit on your account. ( Skype to Skype is free )
Edit: just for the sake of balance - other IP service providers are available“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

You're missing the point - because the web runs closer to real time than TV (digital TV in particular runs with a few second delay over "live") all the available items were going to those on the web who could order before the TV audience even saw the instruction to phone in. Because of the time delay on TV they need to lock out the web users to give phone users any chance of getting an item. They don't care if someone is using two phones - if a phone caller gets the item then they get the sale price plus the phone revenue - if a web user gets it they just get the sale price. On that basis they are not going to lock out the better customers, and clearly experience shows that allowing web ordering, does lock out the phone customers - so bye bye web customers. Company has said that how it wants to operate so get over it, move on, and seriously ---- give up buying tat off bid tv!Adventure before Dementia!0 -
besides all of this, my original comment still stands! a company cannot say you can buy all of our products via the web and then revoke this way of buying
it is false advertising as it will be an enticer to some people to buy,
they need to look into the problem and sort it for both web and phone buyers!
they do not need to be very rude and just block the web buyers from buying for the odd 1 or 2 that are being greedy and they do not need to say oh look web buyers are buying when they cannot be buying as the web site is locked!
they work their own phone buyers up, the reason the phones lock out is often because too many hundred people are phoning at once flooding the system, why is this? because they unlock the phones and the system gets flooded
they need to sort the problem it is their problem
if they genuinely want their genuine buyers to get the megadrops all they need to do is unlock the lines/web for 10-15 seconds for those that genuinely want to buy as they will come in when they are happy with the price (the same as the old days)
and then do the double plunge so if you are already in you have genuinely got a £1 item rather than just forcing web buyers to buy via the phone, as previously stated as soon as the phones are open with the web locked their is a surge of PHONE buyers who buy the item thinking it is £1
then if these buyers was forced to buy an item when it is not £1 but they bought it thinking it could be then it would make people think oh i cannot just buy this as it may be £1 but it maybe full price and i could be charged full price for it as they say it is a legally bound contract when you confirm yet they still let you revoke previous bids that you are not happy with despite you knowing the price at which you confirmed!0 -
i think the point that is tryin 2 be made here is after so many yrs of loyal custom the freedom of whether 2 web bid or phone bid has b'n revoked...... we have b'n customers since the launch of these channels & feel shelved for what ever reason, as for having a stab at the disabled it's not always that easy to shop/ go other places when you have a disability, once you lose certain functions of your body what you took for granted skippin on & off busses is no longer an option but a luxury0

The point is you can buy from who you want to...and retailers can sell you by whatever means they want. ie PCWorld have online deals that are cheaper than their retail shops...yet you can pick up instore at the cheaper price...are those without internet access being discriminated against?0

You do not have to have a phone to have the internet and of course vice versa!
:money:
surely you can see i am for and against the company? they have just taken the wrong way to solve things!
the phones are actually open the same time as the internet is
look please, all they need to do to stop the odd 1 or 2 greedy buyers is place the odd low quantity items in at a high price and sell tem near that high start price, and then force them to pay that price, that should remove those odd greedy buyers,
it must be all down to company profit, eg they want the phonecall, as i have pointed out a way to them of how web bidders were currently using the system although they have chosen not to change this yet have still blocked the website0
