As for not being available on the website because you have the old Finest CC, that's curious and must have been made up on the spot! Ours is a Tesco Finest platinum Visa, and we have had it for ages.
Just trying to make one thing clear, I'm referring to the breakdown of Clubcard points on the tesco.com website which some of us can see in detail. For Tesco purchases, I get for example:- date / Tesco XYZ Extra / 56 (points) / Show info
- date / Finest Visa Spend - Merchant / 15 (points) / Show info
I've been able to see similar detail in my online Nectar account for ages. Great that some of us can now see such detail with Tesco, but they're taking an awful long time about it.0 -

TBH I have a feeling that won't last long unless they start giving them away!!0 -
Pretty clear from this thread that very few of us are absolutely clear as to what we're currently getting from our existing cards.
My Platinum Visa expires shortly, and I've had the World Mastercard letter too. I've had the present card for many years, and my recollection is that it gives 1 point per £2 everywhere. That's why we use the Clubcard Plus card instore - more points.
I still have the ancient Tesco Classic card and it is currently showing 5 points for £2 spent in Tesco and 1 point for £2 spent elsewhere.
I assume that this includes the double points promotion ( that's still going, right? ).
On the whole, I'm inclined to keep my current card.0 -
"I've been told its because we have old Tesco Finest CC."
that's what i have. it was the finest platinum mastercard, and now it's the black Finest World Mastercard. i use it for spending at Tesco, and i do some purchases for a few grand every few weeks too, so the points rack up quite nicely. im probably wrong to do so, but i always use the points i earn for buying food
and it does a bit jackieblack, but it takes all sorts, and to be discussing clubcard points at 9:30ish on a saturday night puts me in a similar category;)0 -
When my card ran out they just changed it from old platinum visa to world mastercard - no explanation, no option, just replacement, no notification of change to points, no 650 points. I will try and check to make sure I still get original deal.
I also have club card + (like a prepaid credit card just for tescos)which I get 6 points for every £2.00 spent in store so only really use credit card for other merchants to collect points.0 -

The new one looks much the same, and I can't really see any downside. Mastercard and Visa are fine pretty well everywhere.
Since Tesco debased the Clubcard scheme last year, we switched all our spending away from Tesco Visa anyway, to get 1% cashback from Capital One (also a Mastercard). More profitable - and none of the difficulties trying to use Clubcard points on an increasingly expensive and useless collection of Clubcard Deals.
As part of the switch, we also more or less gave up shopping at Tesco altogether. Lidl provides the basics at far lower cost than Tesco (similar or better quality) and Waitrose provides far better quality meat, fruit, vegetables and non-basics at not much more than Tesco charge. Tesco, in fact, has become increasingly irrelevant since the Deals became increasingly pointless.
I don't miss Tesco at all -far from it. But I'll happily pick up the 650 points every year just for keeping the card and making the odd purchase on it. :rotfl:
We are going the same way now.
Been with Tescos from the start and I think now they are foregetting how they got to number one. By providing a best value loyalty card than the rest, by far plus cheap prices!
We have used the points over approx 10 yrs for holidays, using the package company who was in favour at the time. we have a total of about £8500 paid by Tesco over that period.
As you pointed out its now getting to be a waste of time. £800 limit on Cosmos instead of unlimited (used to have £1200 off big hols), 3 times instead of 4 with the excuse of "double points", how long will they last, and points reductions on things like petrol, and Tesco forever trying to pull a fast one on their long standing customers.
I, like you now shop around and spend less of our major shopping at Tesco. We used to go past Sainsbury to get to Tesco to do our shopping, now we do half our shop there.
Dont get me wrong, Tesco loyalty card is still the best around but fastly becoming like the rest, and their prices are not the cheapest any more!
Tesco, you are shooting yourself in the foot!0 -
I'm confused
I have just got a Tesco credit card, it's a Mastercard, and the only one they do which is the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card. I got it for the 13mths 0% on purchases.
It says on the website:- Collect 1 Clubcard point for every £4 you spend on your Clubcard Credit Card anywhere in the world.
Representative 16.9% APR (variable) - Plus, your card doubles as a Clubcard. So when you use your Clubcard Credit Card to pay at Tesco, not only will you get 1 point for every £4 you spend, you will also collect standard points from Clubcard!
I suppose other people have older cards who had different terms, hence me being confused. I didn't realise it made any difference to me whether it's a Visa or a Mastercard? Or does it not?0 - Collect 1 Clubcard point for every £4 you spend on your Clubcard Credit Card anywhere in the world.

Visa and Mastercard are 2 different companies with different conditions.
In my experience Visa is accepted at more retailers in the parts of the world I have visited than Mastercard. I used to have a Mastercard as well as a Visa and found that the Visa was accepted at all of the Mastercard retailers, but not visa versa! I stopped the Mastercard.0 - Collect 1 Clubcard point for every £4 you spend on your Clubcard Credit Card anywhere in the world.
