  • Oh dear...sorry the house is causing you grief.

There is always something to do isn't there

    It will come right.

  • So the pump has gone away to be fixed. Soon as the cesspit was emtpied it filled right back up, seems they left the original inlet open so we have been pumping ground water for the past 2 years constantly out of the pit....great.

It has meant that without a pump the water is now backing up to the house so have had to put a temporary pump in this morning to pump some out.... things never seem easy and straightforward.

Guessing all in all it will cost me about £500 for all of this, but come the summer I plan to dig down and block the inlet (not paying them to do it), should save myself a fair amount of electricity and lengthen the life span of the pump.

Should still have around £1000 OP this month.

DD2 back in hosp next week for another overnight study.

Won't be long now until LO#4 is born, everything is ready, got MIL staying over to cover babysitting duty until its born.

  • Just had payday few days earlier than I expected so made an OP of £1500 so £3000 for Jan so far. Expect Feb to be low due to the pump bills etc

  • Morning all,

Snow has melted now, just means our temp pump is going hell for leather morning and night as the water table is so high.

Got quite a few "things" that need doing or buying over the next year or so:
    - new car
    - guttering
    - Possible long term fix for the cesspit (go on to own mains drains)
    - New bed & bedding for us
    - re-do drains soak aways

Trying to make my car last as long as possible, might be another couple of years or might not be as long.

No point doing guttering until drains are fixed, and can't do that until I pull up the concrete path around the house.

I know tell me about it!

The cesspit currently still has an open inlet so our pump must be on 50% of the time pumping ground water, so the electric usage must be pretty high. I am at the very least going to block this off, however I am wondering if my ground with otherwise become waterlogged....the drains currently just overflow as the soak aways are no good anymore. Going to try and get away with doing as much as I can myself or by postponing it.

Some bits of the fascias are rotting at one side of the house though. I hate spending money haha.

OH has accepted a new bed instead of having a holiday this year which is no suprise given the bed size she wants!

So far every year I have had to pay almost an equal amount to my OP for ancillary items

    year 1 was windows
year 2 was engagement ring, trees down and holiday

Its got to end sooner or later (fingers crossed), I would be well and truly cracking on with my mortgage otherwise. I want to be MF by the time I am 35 at the latest which is in time for DS getting to secondary school and being a teenager

  • So had a car service and a few repairs that needed doing so thats £400, still waiting on the bill for the cesspit so February is likely to be a nasty month for bills :(

Must check my oil levels tonight too!

  • Morning all, so was quite a bad February in the end.

What with my car bill I then quickly had a failed pump which left with me cesspit clean out of £100 and a repair bill of £450, so needless to say I had no OP for the month.

OH did however give birth a couple weeks ago (been busy so forgot to post). Had another little girl. So far so good and no troubles like DD2.
