  • I can just imagine Mrs L-P (to be) on "Money Spending Expert" saying something like "I'll give it ten minutes then run through the benefits of a caravan with old Scrooge again"

Alternatively, a caravan would be a fast route to MF!!!:rotfl:

Haha I don't think she would like the idea of living in a caravan! It would be funny for the first hour mind.

Paid today so I can let out a sigh of relief, closest month I have had for quite a while. Trasnfered £1000 back to my savers for my rainy day pot.

Still no other word from HMRC, our friend who works there says the system is in that much of a mess it is possible we could get lost in the system since we no longer claim any CHB. Heres hoping anyway!

People have already asked us what date the wedding is, we haven't even given it a thought other than to say its a good two years plus away at the moment!

Looking forward to the game tonight, just got to find a working video stream. Come on you Gunners :)

  • Audio only feeds and even they were poor. 6-1 happy with that and have Reading in the next round. Good test for the youngsters.

Theo with two did his claim to a strikers role no harm.

  • Hey guys and gals.

So spoke with Halifax and they won't look at remortgage until a month to go whereas Nationwide like the ball rolling a good two months before.

Nationwide is 3.09% and I looked at reducing the term from 23years to 11 years which makes the mortgate from £800 to £1500 give or take. Just need to do some figures at work on Monday to ensure that I will still have enough left over each month to cover any "oh darn" moments.

Also need to weigh up the 4 year vs 2 year and how the fees come into play. Staff seemed really switched on at Nationwide at least.

  • Having looked at Halifax website this morning it seems they have changed their rates, so the 4year Nationwide now appears to be the only real option.

I have heard rumours the base rate is set to drop again soon though. But longer term the rate has got to start to go up again (I would guess 2/3 years time.)

The only question is how much I am wanting to put down each month as my mortgage amount, I don't want to stretch myself too much but with a 11 year term that means I will be 38 and that excludes extra OP so my target of 35 is still possible.

Will run it past the OH and check she can stay within the budget.

  • With the base rate staying the same it seems some new offers have come out.

A £1500 product fee, 2 year 2.84% from Halifax is tempting. I prefer the 10% OP method compared to the Nationwide £500 per month as it gives a bit more freedom I find. Still not fully decided

  • Morning all,

OH did the final bit of xmas shopping for the kids today with some pennies form an Auntie.

Other than the food shop had pretty much a no spend weekend. Still waiting on my mate to come out and price up the guttering for me.

Pretty uneventful at the moment really.
