  • Filed my self assessment tax return last night, so they owe me £275, which is nice.

Also have some pennies left over from last year (X-mas wasn't as expensive as I was expecting or prepared for) so end of this month I'll have £1,5000 - £2,000 left over. not sure if I'll put it all towards OP or some in a pot for guttering. Still to decide on that.

Did have a look at mone of my several charts last night and see that we are currently £23,000 ahead of where we would have been had we made no OP's and had kept the term at 30 years. I still think within 10 years is easily achievable but within 7 is ideal (before I turn 35 is the target).

  • So kids are back at school & nursery = yay!
DD2 starts nursery this february just as LO4 is due.
The logistics of having 4 LO's its going to be a nightmare.

Should finish off boarding the attic out tonight and I have also dug out my old gym gear for my garage (new year new start and all that).

been weighing up the pro's and con's of having a company car. My car is starting to get near the end of its life and needs replacing soon. Just got to work out the tax, I only drive a short distance so savings are likely to be small.

  • Hi Pavlos,

DD2 is still undergoing tests to fully establish what is wrong with her. Now onto genetic testing as they seem somewhat flummoxed as to the cause.

To look at during the day she is perfectly fine but on a night thats when she forgets to breathe.... we have home monitoring equipment and alarms but so far its all self resolving each time she does alarm.

Payday next week, should be able to manage another OP of aroun £1,000 - £1,200 for January.

Didn't get as much snow as we expected this weekend so had just a nice covering without too much trouble casued.

  • Seems I spoke too soon. Had quite the downfall last night so the roads were pretty dodgy this morning. Took mea good 20 minutes to get off my drive even.
Looking at metoffice we should avoid anymore real snow so hopefully back to normal soon.

OH has been busy of late thinking about her plans for an attic conversion and what rooms she could put up there.....

Hoping to get sub £150k by the end of the year and stay on track for MF in 7 years.

  • Hi MCI,

Yeah always have a good start to the year with OP as I save up over xmas in case it costs me more than I expect! Luckily the OH is getting pretty savy at buying throughout the year.

Snows melting away now and the roads are pretty clear.

Money matters I have our drains booked in to be cleaned and inspected tomorrow as they are clogged and no point having my gutters done if the rain can't go anywhere!

  • Had somebody in today to flush out our drains which in turn went to show our pump for our sewage has packed in. Bit of an expensive day in the end £200 and have still soebody to come out to fix the pump....

The downpipes go to soak aways which appear clogged so no point doing gutters until I sort that out, but I can't do that without ripping up the concrete path that goes around the house. So that should be a summer job.

Seems with this old house everytime we look to be getting ahead it drags us back with another issue.....
