Hope your DD is better soon, maybe they just haven't been on the right type/strength of antibiotics.

Good luck with the car boot sale, they're a great way to get rid of stuff. We need to do one but don't think we have enough to warrant taking at the moment but it oftens surprises you what actually sells. I believe children's stuff sells very well.

Thanks Cath. DD is still full of cold but then all the kids are :rotfl:

She had her results back and there is nothing wrong, so they have put her on some stronger tablets so hopefully it will shift the thrush. Also they don't plan on medicating her Epilepsy until she is older and starts to do it more often. Which I guess is a good thing.

Now regarding money saving, I was one of those lucky people who returned home from a busy day at work to find a nice shiny cheque from Halifax for £1500.00 goodwill for them not informing me of a change in my mortage.

That will help with the windows, and I have been doing some quick sums and I reckon that by the time they fit the windows I should have some cash left over to make an OP too :T

A few of the little things I have done of late to save money
    - OH is now on a company mobile
    - Sold my old phone on envirofone £20
    - First quidco money is due anytime - £71

We have however had a few spends
    - £400 car insurance for OH (Gone up by £100 because of where we now live :()
    - £79 new car tyre (thats the 6th tyre in 6 months!)

Was the tyre problem due to potholes next to where you live? .. If this is the case, I think you can put a claim with the council.. Government has granted them budgets for that, however they are keeping it very quiet..

Big hug for your DD.. Very brave she is..

I did tell you that money matters would sort themselves out.. £1.5K will help a lot.. You should be back on the OP train in no time..

    Cheers

Well I had to change all four of my tyres. First was a flat, then suddenly the day we were moving house I had 3 flats! might have been the severe cold or maybe somebody let the air out? But if that had been the case I don't know why the good one was left.

OH's car had one flat as she ran over a nail and this last one is just the tread. Still £79 is better than last time I had to pay £180 iirc as they only had premium brand in.

Aye i'll be back aboard in in a coupe of months!

  • Hello all, its been quite a while since I posted so heres a small update:

Windows should be fitted in the next 3-4 weeks, its looking more and more likely that once they are fitted I should be able to make an immediate OP of anywhere from 3k to 5K so I won't be nearly as far behind as I originally thought.

Recently went for a short camping trip with the kids to Flamingo Land, was a nice cheap holiday and the kids loved every minute of it, especially the Tigers. With good weather holidays in the UK do take alot of beating I think.

Hope all are well and doing nicely with their own MFW.

  • A few points on things that have happened in the past week.

Had a few more cheques from Music magpie and had £20 credited from Envirofone directly into my account.

Also Quidco has finally made the first payment which was £70, still another £300 due anytime now.

DS has been having his haircut by his gran and the old dear has been even doing mine too. So thats been cutting out £10-£15 a month.

Shopping however we have noticed a small rise from £50 a week its more like £60 a week now, and last month was really high but that was mainly down to DS birthday party.

I had a uni mate who I haven't seen for sometime round my house over the weekend and it was refreshing to finally find a mate who also had the same view on money and making overpayments, all our others still think it is "foolish" and to "live life for the moment".

On the job front the consulting job is still on going, it was meant to stop in Jan, then June, but now its due for Sept (although i expect it to be start of next year). That means we have re-negotiated yet again and its another £1000 a month (thats £2000 a month more than at the start!)

  • Morning all,

Now I am getting back into the swing again here are a few of my to do jobs:

    - I tried and failed to sell my old console games and some LP's to dealers so will have to load them onto ebay. Our last ebay run with nursery items raised £150.
    - My grandads house has been sold so moving the remaining furniture into my garage (not sure if i want or need any of it but I just can't bring myself to throwing it away) He also has plenty of shelving for my sheds so that will save me buying any.
    - Need to paint my porch before the new door is fitted (don't want white specs on a black door!)
    - Need to make my mind up about the MBNA cb credit card (still unsure if to get it or not, and if the 0.75% and 1.5% cb is worth the hassle)
    - Sort out my self assessment myself (saving £500 accountants bill)

A few costs I know I have got coming up though are:
    - Remaining window balance
    - car MOT
    - car insurance

  • Morning all,

Dropped DS off at nursery, seems he has started throwing hissy fits again when I go to leave....sigh. Roll on September when he starts five days a week and DD1 starts two days a week (although we have a feeling she will love it).
Also the only cereal we have in today was coco pops and both got some choccy milk down their new tops which didn't sit well with the OH. Opps.

Tonight I need to fix our lawn mower, as it currently only has three wheels attached and give the lawn a good cut.

Time to roll my sleeves up and do some work me thinks!

  • Just had the call from the window fitters they will start work on Monday! Should take the whole week to fit, so in about ten days I should have a home which is far warmer, quieter, secure and efficient. Yay!

Going to take the brass handles off the windows and take them along for scrap value.

  • Has anybody has any problems with Quidco?

Apparently I have been paid £75 cashback but having checked my bank there has been no such payment. just raised a query as it was end of May that they made the "payment", not sure how long each payment normally takes as this is my first from them.

    Cheers

  • So the first two windows went in last night along with new sils. I was worried they might damage the walls which I had only just painted the other month, but thankfully they have done an excellent job so far. Lets hope the rest of the windows go smoothly too.
