Had a call last week from this company too - got the bumph thru the post and another call asking if we can make the confirmation date - I said maybe lol. Not driving 2 hours to the middle of nowhere - sit for a couple hours more - then 2 hours back home again, rueing the day. 'The OFT advise that because Holiday Clubs are not covered by timeshare law there are no automatic cancellation rights for those who change their minds'. And with a name like Club La Costa you can bet its not a timeshare!!!

    Scroll to Q5 :j :T

Thanks for that, BERR have obviously updated their advice since I enquired on behalf of my in-laws who are still saddled with a useless "investment". As Martin says in the top sticky on the Warnings & Rip Off board.

DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THEM WITH A BARGEPOLE!

Hi recently visited a local event which is held annually. This year as I walked through the entrance I was politly accosted by a lady asking if I could answer a few questions for her survey. A week later, after completing the survey, low and behold I had won a holiday! Being a causious person I thought I would google the company name. It lead me here - thank goodness.

I wil be informing the organisers of the event to let them know what kind of traders they had let into the event. Hopefully there will be no sign of them next year.

'Timeshare' or 'Holiday Club' I don't see the differance. There is no such thing as a 'free holiday'.
  • I too have just had a phone call from CLC Resorts and Hotels telling me I had won a holiday in France Spain or Portugal for 4 people anytime I wanted within 18 months. I was given the phone number 0800 9889904 to call (no time limits given) together with my reference. I asked the chap who called if it was connected to timeshare and he said that it was a free holiday so that hopefully when we wanted to go on holiday again we would think of them and use their services.
Thought I'd check online before calling and from your guys comments seems to be a scam, as expected. Boo hoo!
  • I had a phone call today after entering a competition to win some Mac laptops. I thought paying £30 "deposit" for a free holiday I'd won sounded a bit fishy, and it looks like it is :-(

    Ben
  • Thank you for posting these warnings. I have just had a call from CLC on my mobile. Don't know how they get the information.
  • Having never won anything in my life I received a call from the above saying I had won a holiday for 4 for 7 nights to either Portugal, Spain or Canary Islands or to two destinations in UK. The number to call was 0800-98849904. (The call was made from 01268557600). I became suspicious and googled CLC Resorts & Hotels. I am glad I found this site. The comments posted on here speak for themselves. I shall not be calling either number.
  • yes indeed - thank you forum thank you posters!
I just had THE call too - bad news, I didn't win £5000 but good news woohoo I "won" a holiday inc. flights to Europe!
    0800 988 9900
please can I ring them from my landline.
    erm - no I can't.
Chalk that one up to a spammy entry that slipped through my radar! :p
  • I got a call today and I gave them no info. The man was trying to get me excited re the holiday but I told him I didn't believe him. He said I was a rare winner and to enjoy my holiday.
I then googled and found this page!
I was asked to phone 0800 988 9900 but I haven't! Nothing is for free and I asked why I didn't get the info in writing too!
Thanks for the tip guys. I won't be pursuing this!
  • I had a call 10 minutes ago from CLC Hotels and Resorts about winning a survey. 4 Free Flights to somewhere in Europe. The number to contact is 0800 9889900. I asked if this was a timeshare promotion and i was told yes it is. A couple of hours of your time was required to look at the resort they send you to, and that's it.

I already have a timeshare so i don't think i will be calling to book dates. I will do some more surfing of the net to see what else is out there on this company.
