Os daily TUESDAY 8th feb

Morning all
Sorry not posting regularly but nothing cheerful to say so have just been reading mostly. Lit a purple candle last night but couldn't listen to all the lovely music as I am not in a good place still, so was too emotional to subject myself to that. Things just the same here at home.
On an OS front I have been keeping myself busy cleaning, clearing out cupboards etc. I have also been batch cooking as I had bought loads of food in before OH left so am trying not to waste it (and to make sure I have plenty in for when my appetite does return) So have cooked and mashed all the bag of potatoes and frozen them in individual portions, made carrot and coriander soup and frozen it. Made quiches with the eggs, bacon, cheese etc which are also frozen. Freezer is fit to burst but I still can't eat properly. Am making sure I have at least some fruit and yogurt each day.
One question if I can please - I have a butternut squash and some peppers and fancy making a soup with them, (I would normally have roasted as a veg). If I make a soup do I roast them first then just blitz with veg stock or am I missing something out? I do have a little cream that needs using up too. Any tips greatly appreciated.
I think I might try to go back to work tomorrow. I am off with stress at the moment and have a sick note until next Monday but am wondering if trying to get back to some form of normalacy (sp?) might help. I am still very emotional so am not sure what to do. I dont seem able to make decisions at the moment.
Hope everyone has a good day
Hope you are feeling a little better today RR
Fairy - its awful for you but all you can do is be there for her when she needs you.
Lou - hope you and LO feel better soon.
Sorry brain has turned to mush so cant remember other news so (((Hugs))) to anyone who needs them

Or you could donate the money to the help halight fund!:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Evening everyone
Not been on for a couple of days so only just caught up. I loved your tribute thread to MSD yesterday, a lot of the songs made me tear up. I will remember her as a lovely person who more often than not started the daily and made us smile, I will always be indebted to her for her recipe for Aunt Sallys Apple Cake, I copied it and pasted it the first time she posted it and just checked my recipe file, yep, its printed out in purple. I remember when I said I was making it for my DGD2's christening by popular demand and she was pleased to think it would become a traditional cake in our family too. Lovely lady.
Have been shattered since Saturday, this is my body's way of telling me I am now too old to stay up all night:eek: went to bed at 8 last night but still feel I could do it again tonight, am not going to though as need to get back to normal some how!
Have got butternut squash and onion, garlic in oven at moment, will only par roast them and stick them all in the sc tomorrow morning with a couple of chilli, ginger, tin of toms and stock, hoping it makes a nice spicy soup as the one I have in the freezer at the mo is very bland.
Got an inspection tomorrow, place is tidy and clean, hopefully she will just do her usual stand in the hall, ask if there is anything wrong and whats cooking :rotfl:
Got the day off on Friday so am looking forward to that, OH has to go to dentist to get his fangs :rotfl:after that am hoping we may go out somewhere. Just us this weekend, thank god, don't think I could do another weekend with a teenager just yet.
Hugs for those who feel the need, good wishes for those who don't hug :rotfl:whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Hugs to JackieG. Hope it has started to shrink. x
I have had a busy day as I had to work on my presentation for my support group. Stressful or what! Never mind it is done now and I can tweak it over the weekend.
Kids dad made corned beef hash which was delish!. Hugs xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I had one on it and the other a few years ago, and lost the other ovary as it was soooooooo huge, but they managed to drain this one, its back but they aren't sure if its just a cycle thing or if its permanent, if it has shrunk, its just cyclical, I am a bit worried because I have a bit of pain/discomfort, which I never had before, but I am trying to tell myself that's a good thing. I haven't told my sisters yet so please don't mention it on FB.

PS put my January fund money in my Credit Union account today
Everything crossed for you tomorrow, hope its shrunk xxxx0 -
Oh my. I'm sooo angry at the moment, so I apologise for the following rant.
I'm Danish. A Danish national. I have lived here for the last 27 years. I have gone to school, college and university here. I have worked here and paid my taxes here. I'm married to an Englishman.
Denmark joined the EU in 1972, one of the first countries to do so as far as I know.
I am therefore entitled to work here with no written permission from the Home Office or the UK Border Agency.
So why is work insisting that I have to produce a visa or work permit???!!!! Why do they not understand that I.DON'T.NEED.ANYTHING.:mad::mad:
They are now wanting to see my Danish passport which has been binned as it was out of date a year ago, to see if is says 'indefinite level to remain'. It won't, BECAUSE IT'S DANISH!!!!
So they want to see my parents' proof of indefinite leave to remain, where I am named, as a 7 yr old.
I've just been on to the UK Border Agency website and printed off the proof that I don't need permission, but at the moment I despair that they wil ever understand this.
I wonder if they even know where Denmark is.....
Sorry. I'm off to drink wine until I start breathing again.

Good Evening Everyone
R-R - hope you feel better soon and doesn't turn out to the Shingles.
Jackie-G - everything crossed for you that it has gone down
Jackie-0 - so pleased that your were treat by your DD's and your essay was approved by the tutor
v-moneyboy Typical jobsworths!!
niclou I would suggest going back to work on Monday is a good idea, yes it will be hard, but it will take your mind off the situation for periods at a time, and I am sure your workmates will be supportive. Please try to eat something as you do need your strength to cope (or strangle him).
Jodie - Congrats on the baking and welcome :hello:
Loulou - Glad to hear your son seems to be picking up.
fairylittle - hope your daughter comes to her senses quickly.
Well we have some cloud here today, and I was going to get the ironing mountain tackled, but first of all we got up late:o, then a neighbour who was flying back today called to bring her spare f&v and bread for us to use up and of course stayed for coffee. Then we were spotted by next door (our Dutch neighbours) who suggested we go to a Chinese tomorrow evening, so of course we said yet:D We had to go out into the countryside to pick up a disk, so that then took a couple of hours, so when we got back it was time for our evening meal, I got a Chicken from Lidl, so put some sage and some lemon slices inside it, and then brushed it with olive oil, and sprinkled some sage, and some coating for chicken sold on the market here before popping it in the oven. It was really moist, and we did mash, carrots and cauli with it.
Now waiting for DS to log on MSN, so we can have a natter.
Never mind, tomorrow is another day.
Take care all and ((((hugs)))) all round. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hi Again,
Thanks for all your experiences re tramadol, spoke to nurse at surgery & she said it may take a while to get used to it as I'm only taking it every third day as a break from the codeine. Like Jackieg I don't really need anything else to make me doolally:D
So went to the beach had a bimble along the shore with the dogs whilst DP was at his appt, gathered some seaweed to put on the compost heap, came home & slept for three hours on the sofa, woke up, prepped my stirfry (ie did all the chopping & slicing) & my sister rang from Islay, DS came in starving so he cooked under my supervision & is now taking credit for a lovely stirfry & special fried rice :rotfl::rotfl: . He was also quite excited to see a butternut squash & some peanut butter in the delivery as he knows that I will be using them to make the only soup he's ever eaten so have told him I will teach him how to make that tomorrow. At last some common ground
Karren, I also had a pressure cooker given to me & I wouldn't be without it now.
Halight, love your posts
Jackieg, hope all goes well tomorrow,
V8MB, Grr on your behalf, hope you get it sorted.
Hope everyone has a peaceful night esp Lou & Ethan x

There is just so much 'stuff' firms have to do nowadays, our place is going back over records and asking people who have worked for us for 20 years for passports etc:eek: the new rules say firms have to have everything on file....believe me it is not asking just for the sake of being a jobsworth. Our firm did have a prob with some people a while back....false docs, but they were such good forgeries that we were not done for it, now they are going by the book, they want all proofs on file, and believe me you cannot be more angry than some of our 'older' british people who have worked there for 30 years
I understand that as an EU national you don't need a work permit, they just want a copy of your passport send that with your marriage cert, if that isn't enough for them ask them to read the UK borders agency web site :rotfl:I take about 10 calls a day re this and am reeling with it! Its ok for head office to send these letters out but who do they ring????? yup me :rotfl:whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Im sorry that you are having so much trouble with your place of work.
Now go in tomorrow and ask them why you need to show them all this stuff, Then tell them that you are upset at how they are dealing with you and that you feel that you are being unfairly treated. So you are going to take them to court!!!!!
They should know the law. Thay need to run there company to the letter of the law. That law states that you can live and work here forever abd a day untill that law is changed.
I would saay a payout od £1000000 should ease your mental torment and stree taht you have gone thouth
You can post me my 10% comp for the advice.:D
By the way im not jokeing. You are being unfairley treated. You are not being treated as the same as everyone else that has the right to live and work here under EU law. They should know who they can give jobs to and who thay can not.
If they dont know this info then tey are breaking the law.
If it were me than i would kick up a right fuss about it.:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

Hi
They can only ask for a photo copy of your passport.
We have been asked for ours at work. All but 2 people in the place have taken these in. I and all the other have said that we are not going to do it.
Many Uk people do not ahve a passport of a drivers lisance. I.E. my wife and a few people at work dont have then aswell.
If they dont have good grounds to suspect taht you ahould not be working than thay can have a real battle to get the info from you. I.E. the courts.
I do however think it is only a matter of a few years before you will have to give a company some sort of photo I.D. to get a job or carry on working there. Its the way things are going im afraid.:(:(:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0
