Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 7th Feb. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

My car had a warning light come on yesterday... diagnostic by the garage says it's my catalytic converter... the garage re-set the light, and said if it comes on again, before they change the cat they will go through a whole check-list of things which could be wrong in case they don't have to change the converter!

    Worst Case £525 _pale_

Oh and there is a *slight* possibility that the sensors are damaged (at £150 each) but they said it's highly unlikely!

I must have looked very upset... because the guy at the garage let me off without paying £30 for they diagnostic!

I only have a few weeks left at this job... after that who knows when I'll get a new job... and is most likely something I will have to pay out for at some point!!

Well today is the same old stuff...

Breakfast and Lunches are made. Just about to get ready for work (oh joy!). Tonight we are having HM Battered Fish and Chips (yummy) and the recipe always make too much batter, so I am going to try and remove half before adding the fish and thin it a little and make pancakes for dessert (wish me luck, i've never done this before!)

DS has a times table test today if he gets 100% this week we get to start on the next set of times tables. I am proud of how well he is doing! :T

OH and I did a financial review last night... still no money!

    Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone - another dark February morning. :j

Need to wait in for some workmen (supposedly coming at 8.30) and then off to work. Got some paper stuff to catch up on and some organising to do.

Breakfast will be bacon and eggs, lunch some soup and evening meal will be chorizo stuffed with cream cheese and assorted and random vegs. Water WILL be drunk hourly too. :j

The other day I bought two bunches of red tulips and they are standing straight up, at attention, and about to burst into life. I love tulips and seeing them so early this morning has brightened up a dreary morning. Hopefully I can be standing to attention and about to burst into life too!

    Hope everyone is doing well.
  • Morning all,
Dark & grey here atm. Pegged out washing in a gale yesterday, then 15 minutes later it was raining:(
Ham & squash gratin was lovely yesterday - used lo ham from Sunday and unused 1/2 butternut squash from Sat (had the rest in roasted vegetables). Made the heels of the hm loaf into breadcrumbs for the topping:)
Today we will have chicken & mushroom pie made from lo chicken from Sun and lo mushrooms. I often like the meals made with leftovers more than the original roast. Lunch yesterday & again today = lentil & veg soup using hm ham and chicken stock with all the lo veg whizzed in:)
Mount Washmore climbed & summit reached:) Mount Cluttermore is another matter altogether. Right, need to get going. Happy Tuesday everyone. Hugs to those in need, Silver x

Morning all, dark and cold outside I think. Well I think that I can see a wee bit of frost on the field outside. Still have to keep DS2 at home - not because there is much wrong with him - he's just taking a little longer to recover - but he is coughing so much that he can make himself sick. The school won't have this.

Still today I have a colleague from my old work coming over to pick up some information. Went to the PTA last night and got a wee bit frustrated at the "we can't do this" attitude that was around. So I took on the organisation of the summer ball (adults only) for only £10 a ticket. I don't think it can be done, but I want to check out things first! WHY did i open my mouth???!!!!

Dinner today will be jacket potatoes.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Morning all

Frosty and foggy here today-bit of a shock after the mild weather recently. I even felt that winter was coming to an end yesterday! But no....
Off to get ready for work in a minute, crept out of bed and put the washing machine on earlier in spite of putting three loads on yesterday!

Tea will be mince something as I forgot to defrost the pork pieces I got in Lidl for £1.24.

Little car had front brake drums and pads replaced yesterday.....ouchie......!

Meters read last week so braced for electricity and gas bill-we pay monthly but will be interested to receive it as had new boiler and radiators put in last Autumn.

OH well, time for shower and up and at em! Just as well work is only a ten minute walk away!

    Have a good day.

    Morning all!

Halight I had a little :) at your cat (sorry!!) - what a way to be woken up!!

*sigh* is it only Tuesday.... Still at least it seems lighter in the mornings and is definitely staying lighter in the evenings :j

Nothing exciting here going on - lunches packed, dinner decided - chicken and veg pie, got all of the various bits out of the freezer ready to make when I get home from w*rk. I must do an online shop tonight, freezers/cupboards/fridge all almost bare - not done a proper shop since before Christmas!!

Hope you all have good days

eta - Fairylittle, just read the end of yesterday's thread, so sorry to read the news - it's horrible to feel so helpless, like you said she is an adult and can make her own decisions but it's so difficult to bear when you know it's the wrong choice. First love is overwhelming and quite destructive I always think - I hope she is ok and hugs to you.
