  • JG - Cars are FAB until they go wrong, then it's huge amounts of money :(. Hope it dosen't dent your pocket too much x

It's only at 65,000 miles... I would have thought it would go furthue before starting to have issues. I am suspicious that a light and a computer told them what was wrong... is it just a really early warning... what did they do before these sofisticated machines told us what was wrong? Will I pass an MoT with the light on??

I will be looking into this in more depth before I part with a penny!

Juliegeorgiana we have spent a fortune on cars the last couple of weeks. Still got one of the road but can't manage without them for DH business

This is my problem for the next few weeks... without a car I won't be able to get to the car I do have, as I work 30 miles from home.

Once this job is finished the car will get used for less then 20 miles a week (until the next job!)

    Morning all,

Vey cold and frosty here, have just put a towel wash on and another to follow, still feel weak and with a sore back and head, dont know what to do about work tomorrow, will see how I feel in the morning, Marie I would love to have some of your folk remedy, I am sure these things are often better than what the Dr gives you.

DD is off school she is full of cold and cough, we are the house of sick at the moment :(

Going to have an easy day today, just hang the washing, prep the dinner etc, I also have to do an online shop.

Loulou, I hope your ds is on the mend xx

Fairy, I am so sorry your dd has gone back to that scum , there is really nothing you can do,but be there for her when it all goes wrong again, big hugs xx

Nic, nice to see you posting, I think you should take the rest of the week off and go back next week, it will be hard when ever you go back, so give yourself a bit more time xx

Julie, hugs to your BF xx

Ok going to have some toast, have good days all xx

Yesterday I rang up 2 people who had applied for a job sometime ago with us and left their numbers. We have a vacancy at the moment as the last person we took on has been off more than they have been in & thats only since Xmas - anyway both confirmed that they are not working still but both said no thanks - not enough money! I know we pay a good rate and pay more than 1 of the contractors we work alongside. I can't work it out and find it amazing when you see on the news the amount of people out or work. Will be advertising the job again tomorrow at the job centre and hope some people apply who actually want to work.

Makes no sense... I took my current job even though it paid a LOT less then I am used to... just to get back into work.

Wish I lived close... I need a job is a few more weeks!

One question if I can please - I have a butternut squash and some peppers and fancy making a soup with them, (I would normally have roasted as a veg). If I make a soup do I roast them first then just blitz with veg stock or am I missing something out? I do have a little cream that needs using up too. Any tips greatly appreciated.

I think I might try to go back to work tomorrow. I am off with stress at the moment and have a sick note until next Monday but am wondering if trying to get back to some form of normalacy (sp?) might help. I am still very emotional so am not sure what to do. I dont seem able to make decisions at the moment

Sorry to hear about your problems... after my divorce it took me 6 months to stop throwing up each time I ate anything more then salad... just take it one step at a time x

As to the butternut squash, I cook (peeled and diced) mine in water with veg stock with diced chilli and ginger and once cooked I blitz it... add a drop of cream when serving can make it really nice x

If you have a sick note you are not insured to go back to work unless the Dr signs you back on. I would take the week to sort things out. I did that... I spend a week like a mad woman clearing out the house so that it was my house again!

((Hugs)) hope you feel better soon x

This is why I loved my old Land Rover Defender. It had no air con, didn't even have electric windows, nothing sophisticated apart from the 4 wheel drive LOL Problem is with modern cars is they require soooo much technology to diagnose a problem and then to fix it. My dad's a qualified mechanic and I am dreading the day when he can't fix my cars for me

May I offer you a hug too Lady Liberty as you've lost a good friend.

    Morning ladies and gents :)

Gorgeous morning here, cold but blue sky and sunshine, very good for the soul.

Plans today are to clean kitchen, make some brownies if I get chance (made cupcakes instead yesterday) and I am heading out shortly to do something with my mum. We don't get to do things together like we used to as I am normally rushing round with kids or housework and she the same (well not the kids bit LOL).
Autism course tonight so tea will be a makeshift.

Fairylittle - Not read yesterdays thread but I gather you DD is back with that !!!!!! I really hope she wises up before it's too late xx

Loulou - I hope DS is better today and that you get some rest at some point xx Open the windows and give the house a good blow, hope the cold wind might kill any bugs and remove the smell of sick from your nose ;) xx

Nic - Hugs for you. Well done on all your batch cooking x

Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.

  • Good Morning All - lovely sunny day here today. Very frosty first thing had to scrape the car before I could pick DGS up and take him to nursery.
I have this afternoon off work - it`s DS`s Graduation Ceremony at Symphony Hall. Going with DM as DH will be picking DGS from nursery.
Hoping to take lots of photos ,if I can remember how to use the camera. It`s DH digital one and has lots of buttons. Should be ok if I leave it on auto.
Haven`t decided what to have for tea, may suggest that we go to local carvery.

No housework planned today as don`t have the time.

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning All,
Beautiful morning here for a change, very uplifting. I too have flowers standing to attention this morning, daffs & freesias in my case that DD bought me at the weekend. Am still not feeling right on the Tramadol, does anyone else take this? how does it make you feel? doesn't seem to be doing anything for the pain just makes me feel spaced out & I am really not sleeping well. Have to go to the surgery this morning for the dreaded smear test so will see if can have quick word with the doc.
DP has an appt on the coast later this morning so I am going to go with him & grab a bit of sea air which hopefully will blow away the cobwebs & all the other things that are not right in my head at the moment.
OSwise 1 load of washing already on line & another in the machine nearly ready to go out. DW is having a hissy fit so will have to have a look at that when we get back. Dinner tonight is pork stirfry & I am going to chuck a chicken stew in the slowcooker to have tomorrow.
JackieO a belated Happy Birthday, glad to see you had a good day x
    Fairylittle ((hugs)) x
Lou, how is LO today? hope you've been able to get some rest x
