Hi Silk

There's a thread here, started by the Forum Manager at the time letting people know about the changes.

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2989368
That explaines why I couldn't find it as the thread was titled "recent forum downtime " :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi

Are you certain it was removed by the spam button? If you are, can you let me know what the thread title was and I'll take a look?

Thanks!

Andrea :)

Hi Andrea

The thread was entitled "Vernons" and it was 22/1/11 around 9pm. The thread was posted a couple of times by another member, and a couple of times by myself. I know it was being "Spammed" as i was "discussing" it with those that did it on another forum!

There was also a couple of posts in this thread that got spammed around the same time, as i also posted the offer there.

If it could be looked into that would be great, as it was an abuse of the Spam button. I understand (but have no further info) that this has happened before with other threads.

Thank you for this sensible change. I'd like to suggest MSE takes a long, hard look at the symbol in the Etiquette green box. Two characters apparently duffing each other up doesn't seem to me to be as mature - and clear - as two characters shaking hands is.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Ahhh, ok. Thanks for that!

I've added the words Like button in to the title so that it'll come up in a search.

If you’re having trouble registering on the forum please report the issue by clicking the “Report” button then changing the option to “Registration Problem”..

If you’ve spotted a technical problem on the site please email webmaster@moneysavingexpert.com.

Please report any issues/glitches

If you see any strangeness please let us know by clicking reply below to post on this thread.

In other words, the name for reporting posts has changed. No worries then.

However, one point to note (perhaps I am missing something), but how can someone report something, if they haven't registered?
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

Is anything being done about the Spam button ?

On the GIOL forum there have been instances of "organised groups" hitting the spam button to try and keep offers secret, and not because it was spam.

As an example, myself and another member posted an offer from Vernons a couple of weeks back, and that disappeared (without trace!) because of half a dozen people hitting Spam, when it certainly wasn't.

:)

+1

Abuse of the 'spam' button is undermining the whole MSE ethos on the GIOL forum. It gives a small group of people a veto over whether an offer is published or not.

That's not fair.

• Hi Mariner13 and daaave

I'll have a look into it this week.

One thing to remember, though, is as that's not a Gambling board there are strict rules on what can and cannot be posted on there (see the info at the top) so if any posts/threads are about Gambling then they should be coming off.

Andrea :)

Its always been the case than anyone, registered or not can report something using the appropriate address which is in the blue box at the top of every page.

My I ask a question please - when I click the abuse button, does the post I am referring to get sent with the info I send, or do I have to also include that in the free format box - that's one thing that's never been clear
• Pressing the report button (as its now known) takes the Forum Team directly to the reported post.
