Announcement: Changes to Reporting Posts

What's happening?
As part of trying to keep this forum a friendly, welcoming place to discuss MoneySaving we’ve realised using the term “abuse” when reporting inappropriate content on the forum could in itself be inflammatory so we're planning to do away with it on the site and forum.
It’s important to stress the changes shouldn’t affect your day to day use of the forum, just that the terms used to describe things will change.
So what changes are being made?
The red warning triangle in the bottom right of the post you’re reporting will say “Report” on it instead of “Abuse”.
The Contact Us webform will automatically be set to “Report Post” instead of “Abuse”.
From now on all mentions of the term “abuse” used by the team in this context will go from the forum and site (although you may still see past posts with it mentioned).
What’s not changing?
What you need to enter into the Contact Us webform stays the same.
Reports still go to the same people, just via forumteam@ instead.
The abuse@ email address will still work, but we ask that from now on you use the forumteam@ one, nothing else will change.
When will this happen?
We’ll start rolling it out later today (Mon 7 Feb). As you use the forum you’ll gradually start to see the new button appear on threads you visit until it’s changed everywhere.
What should you use the button for?
The “Report” button is there to let the Forum Team know of content in a thread or post that you feel isn’t appropriate for a friendly MoneySaving forum. It may be something you feel is offensive, sexist, racist, pornographic, argumentative, or simply rude to others on the forum.
The Forum Rule FAQs go into much more detail than we can here. It’s always worth both newbies to the forum and old-hands having a good read of those so you’re always fully aware of how the forum works.
What shouldn’t you use the button for?
The forumteam@ email address isn’t to ask the MSE Team MoneySaving questions. We receive thousands of emails a day and unfortunately can’t answer individual queries. If you have one please ask your question in the relevant section of the forum.
If you’ve spotted something that needs changing or a broken link in an article/guide/deals note or News on the main site please send an email describing where on the site it was and what the change is to brokenlink@moneysavingexpert.com.
If you’re having trouble registering on the forum please report the issue by clicking the “Report” button then changing the option to “Registration Problem”..
If you’ve spotted a technical problem on the site please email webmaster@moneysavingexpert.com.
Please report any issues/glitches
If you see any strangeness please let us know by clicking reply below to post on this thread.

Is anything being done about the Spam button ?
On the GIOL forum there have been instances of "organised groups" hitting the spam button to try and keep offers secret, and not because it was spam.
As an example, myself and another member posted an offer from Vernons a couple of weeks back, and that disappeared (without trace!) because of half a dozen people hitting Spam, when it certainly wasn't.Greatwood - A charity for retired racehorses and children with special needs0 -
Whilst we are on about the site and buttons .....where has my like button gone ?????
Theres a few of us without them now and a thread was started last month here...

Hi
Are you certain it was removed by the spam button? If you are, can you let me know what the thread title was and I'll take a look?
Thanks!

Hi Silk
There's a thread here, started by the Forum Manager at the time letting people know about the changes.

It won't matter what you call it...I won't be reporting anything regardless.
