I do wish to raise something about the opening post:MSE_Andrea wrote: »As part of trying to keep this forum a friendly, welcoming place
Changing the abuse/report method won't change anything. What you need is a good and effective team of moderators. Until you do that the forum will continue to worsen.0 -

I didn't think MSE was moderated, the forum team are just that, they are not mods as I think this implies some legal responsibility.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Thank you for this sensible change. I'd like to suggest MSE takes a long, hard look at the symbol in the Etiquette green box. Two characters apparently duffing each other up doesn't seem to me to be as mature - and clear - as two characters shaking hands is.0

I find this forum to be probably the least friendly and welcoming of any that I've ever visited. I'm not alone in this view as indeed that was just recently a thread on this very point. This is why I barely post on here.

In fairness I think it depends where you visit. The boards I am a regular on are generally extremely friendly and most welcoming - in fact I would go so far as to say they are almost "self moderating" as the community members there simply don't accept rudeness and unpleasantness and always report these when spotted. On the other hand there are some boards where rudeness almost seems to be expected, which is a shame as I know people are put off from posting by that.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I think you're making a rod for your own backs. I can envisage you being inundated with "Report" emails from many posters who often tend to spit the dummy when they don't always get the replies they hoped for. Genuine posters will end up getting reported just because they voice, maybe sometimes strongly, an opposing view to the OP or simply don't tell them what they want to hear.0

But how is going to be any different to what was before? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
