Hi all tonight for tea we are having quiche (bf made them yesterday for us before he went back) which will be served cold cos it's much more yummier that way:D . We had wedges yesterday for tea (didnt go down too well think kids are fed up with them) so question of the day is what can i serve up instead
.DD 15 does not like chips DD 13 does not like roast pots so am sort of stuck. Did tell dd i would do jacket pot and coleslaw but have not been shopping as yet so can't do that either.

How about layering potatoes, cheese, butter and onion in a dish - add some cream or milk and bake in the oven until cooked?
Mash? I add fried onion and peas to mine to make it different.
What about a cold pasta salad?"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
How about rossti?
grate potato, onion and carrot if you like... place in a tea towel and wring out over the sink to remove any excess liguid - season well,
heat some butter and oil in a frying pan and drop big spoon fulls in -pressing down and flipping over when cooked on one side (you can keep them warm in the oven whilst you do the rest) - or do one big one..tip all the mix in and spread out... when browned underneath..turn over or place in oven/under grill to brown off..and cut into wedges.... you can always pop it in the oven when done to make sure the potato i well cooked-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
alternative mashes:
potato and celeriac, potato and swede, potato, swede and carrot, potato, carrot and onion (called hutsput in the Netherlands if you want to make it sound fancy!), potato, onion and kale (called colcannon in N. Ireland and Boerenkool stamppot in the Netherlands).
otherwise i would do boulangerie potatoes or dauphinois potatoes..

Id choose potato cakes - roisti can be a bitof a faff.
another easy way is where you put the pot on a spoon and make slices into them but not all the way through. then douse witha bit of melted butter & stick in the oven. they fan out really nicely- and should go down well with the kids they are not so different from wedges after all. you can put some herbs on top too, if they like that.

How about potato croquettes. They are really easy, you just make shapes out of mashed potato, roll in beaten egg and breadcrumbs, and cook on a baking sheet for about 20 minutes.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I put spices on my wedges - makes them more exciting
My mix is 1 part of each: mixed herbs, mustard powder, ground ginger, ground cayenne and a dash of salt.
Cover the wedges in oil (easiest way is sticking them in a plastick bag add a dash of oil and SHAKE!) and then sprinkle the mix over the wedges
