Her coat, her problem. Folks who leave nail polish in pockets without being very sure the seal is tight can clearly learn the value of money, coats, nail polish & being out & out cooperative rather than dashed chilly...

Use this unfortunate episode to your advantage - especially while sales are on?!

I have to say I was expecting your daughter to be much younger than sixteen if you're the one trying to save the coat.

Let her try to figure it out- maybe prompt her with, "what on earth could remove nail varnish then?" and leave her to it. Steep learning curve perhaps, but it's really not your responsibility.
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.
  • Thank you.

I have told DD, her coat, her nail varnish, her problem..........she is going to use her Christmas money to buy a new one!

Oh well, not my money so I will leave her to it!
  • I'm probably going to sound like a softie here, but "her coat her problem " seems a little mean spirited to me.Yes she's been irresponsible and careless but she is only 16. I'd rather help her solve the problem, look for a solution and work on it together, she'll be more careful next time if she is made to deal with it rather than just dispose of it and buy a new one & she'll be grateful for your help -eventually .

What is the coat made of? Acetone will make some materials go hard, then flake into pieces.

I am a bit of a softie myself, funnily enough after discussing the coat situation we have had a chat about 2014 being the year she becomes a beautiful, responsible lady......she is already beautiful and a lovely young lady (around others but not necessarily family) so she is a third of the way there already. Just need to make her more responsible for her actions but that is very much our fault as she can be a completely grumpy mare so we tend to avoid asking her to do anything.

2014 is going to be the year of change for us all! :T
