  • I write savings up as debts - like for Christmas etc, as we have to spend on them so I try and tackle them now, pay them to credit cards and have them sitting on there.

same with holiday fund. Saves me the interest in the long run.

We use the credit cards , and reduce the balance month on month. Its working for us but it requires discipline and spreadsheets!

  • Rainy here today, so took DC to cinema, used Tesco vouchers for the tickets and bught the popcorn & juice from Morrisons beforehand so a cheap afternoons entertainment :)

Received my bank balance by text this morning and was shocked at how low my balance is :( Checked it on line and have been using my debit card too much. I must go back to withdrawing cash each week and only using that, i lose track to easily when i use my debit card. Also need to go back to writing my spending diary.

Not overdrawn though, but not comfortably enough in the black!! I most certainly spend more with the DC being off school.
