I used to strip off and throw everything in the wash after work each day when I sat on a team of chain smokers it made a massive difference when the company moved into a no smoking building (long before the law changed). My DD creates twice as much washing as me and my DH between us, we do clean undies every day and I always put a fresh top on for work, I wear suits some are washable ( I don't wash jackets) I always buy two pairs of trousers so I can rotate them. I carry a small spray bottle of febreeze type freshener in my overnight bag for work just in case LOL...

I only really put the washer on at weekends and I don't want to be hanging around washing for hors and hours...

i know people who wash clothes just for the sake of washing 'something' even if it was previuosly clean nuts if you ask me i generally do most of my washing on a monday and a friday but i do not wash anything that is not necessary for the sake of it,just cannot understand it

I am amazed at the number of people who only wear something once before washing it. Not very MSE, and v. bad for the environment. I can understand why you'd change a t-shirt if you'd had an active day, but why would you throw a pair of trousers into the wash when you'd only worn them once?
So what about driving a car instead of walking/using public transport? Going on holiday on a plane? Putting heating on instead of a jumper? Not very MSE or good for the enviroment. I don't do any of these things but I know other people do.
  • When I am at work, my 'formal' clothes get changed every day, as do undies socks etc..

Quite frankly when I'm at home, if I changed my clothes every time they got a bit dusty/dirty I'd run out of things very quickly. With 2 dogs 6 cats and a smallholding, I'd spend half my life changing and doing laundry. As long as I'm socially acceptable I'm happy.
  • I and my OH wear clothes more than once unless dirty/smelly! Jeans last ages. Socks and underwear - strictly everyday. My washer is on every day, and I'd love to find a way to wash less - if only to lessen the ironing load. My kids only ever get one wear out of stuff, but that's cos they are naturally messy and muddy - just the way they ought to be!
  • Everything clean everyday. Too many memories of being the skanky kid at school because my mother thought a week of wearing something might qualify it a place in the washing machine - if it all fitted in one washload, if not, it got given back. The bath was only once a week as well.

There were 6 kids and 15 pets.

Still shuddering at the thought of being a teenager forbidden to wash.

    nope.

i always change underwear daily, sometimes twice daily. i may wear my jeans 2 or 3 days in a row, but they will be washed every evening. children have fresh pj's and underwear each evening and if hubby weres chilling clothes in the evening after work, i wash them in the mornign ready for next evening if he wants to wear them

I can never understand why people put their kids in underwear to sleep in. Mine always have clean undies in the morning after their shower, previous days undies go in wash night before, they don't wear their undies to bed. Exception being eldest now who does not wear pj's but sleeps in his Calvin Klein's.

+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

I expect traditionally, kids wore their underwwear under their PJs because it meant less washing - the underwear offering 'protection' to the pyjamas, just as they do to your clothes in the day. Knickers/pants are much easier to wash than a clean pair of PJs every night. I always slept in my knickers. My daughter does too, but my son doesn't. My daughter can wear her PJs longer, but son needs a new pair every night.

    Undies only worn once.

Too much washing beats the life out of clothes so I only wash things if they start to fail the sniff test or have lost their shape. Cashmere is fine in the washing machine but needs to be laid flat on a towel to dry so this is a disincentive to wash jumpers.

Presumably we all wash/bathe/shower regularly and use deodorant so if something doesn't need to be washed I can't see any reason to wash it.

Yes I still have lots of friends!
