Problems with O2 - Can someone settle an argument?

Still no closure to this 3G problem here in my town. It's been over 2 weeks now and still the 3G is down. It's easy for O2 to say "have patience with us" but come on, surely it doesnt take their so-called engineers over 2 weeks to 1/ trace the problem, 2/ fix the problem.

Again I have to contact O2. After I made a formal complaint on Wednesday, they said they would refund me my monthly text fee, which they did, and also not charge me for the next month of web/wifi (which starts today as I pay "upfront" from my credit on my sim). Today they have taken it back along with my web/wifi for the month - even though that was free due to the 3G issue and my complaint.

O2 are getting past a joke now.

I am seriously thinking of dropping them and switching over to another provider. But who? I don't know yet. If there is a more reliable provider with tariffs as good as or even the same as O2 then I may seriously switch over, even though I have £80 of credit left on my sim. I need a fully working phone, and O2s service is not giving me that.
  • Have you tapped your Postcode in at http://status.o2.co.uk where you are having the problems?

Most of the times 3G is fine in Walsall but I do get issues with congestion in the town centre some days.

Since in the week I have switched my handset to 3G only, and all has been working fine, so to me it looks like the problem is clear :j

    That is good news! :T

I know it's not just O2 but it always seems "it's a problem with your phone" "The phone network never breaks" type of thing.

I know its such a pain when its days the phone is not working but it all depends where the mast is located. If O2 or which ever network don't own the land direct they have to give the land owner 7 days notice before any work can be carried out.

    Pain I know...!

As one of the O2 operators said to me in the week "I wouldn't rely too much on this"

According to that status, it's fine. However, my iP4 and my wifes are saying a differant thing. I have just come back from Wolvo and my iP4 was working fine there. The issue seems to be around the Portobello Island and down into Willenhall town centre, where we are and up to Willenhall Park.

The Nearest O2 Mast to Porobello Island & Willenhall Town Centre is 12170. I was in Willenhall on Thursday at Hootys (Near enough next to that mast) and it was a tad slow, but working just abouts...

I'm just trying to get in touch with Customer Services to see if anything has been reported and to try and report it also.

  • If you are still not getting anywhere though, I have found the following information:

    Tel: 01753 564 306
    cellsnationalhelpdesk@o2.com

Not sure if they will be able to deal with Customers direct...

If that fails contact O2's Complaint Review Team and I'm sure they will check to ensure that a problem has been reported and chase it up if needs be - Saves your time:

In a sense though it can sometimes be the phone, if it is not auto switching between 2g/3g dependant upon availability.
And the problems may not always be at the local transmitter :o

O2 have already opened a case for the problems I reported. This was done just a little over a week ago.

I have used 3G in Willenhall for the past 4 years, with early iPhones and without a single glitch (and on O2, been a O2 cusotomer for 13 years). It was working perfectly fine until over 2 weeks ago. I understand congestion issues and such, but at our location having a 3G network which has been down constantly for over 2 weeks is causing considerable issues, certainly for me who works from home and relies on the iPhone. And I'm sure I am not aloan.

The beauty about these iPhones is that you can take screen grabs. Here is one form today. As you see (top left corner) this is what I have been seeing for the past 2 weeks "NO SERVICE" and thats exactly what I'm getting.

And every now and again I get this popping up, which is a nuisance.
