Problems with O2 - Can someone settle an argument?

Funny enough, just turned the 3G off and kept it on roam and all my signal bars shot up to a healthy 5 (full) where as before that they were fluctuating between 2 & 3.
However, would 3G cause problems with making/receiving calls, sending/receiving texts?
MMS and data maybe slower , voice calls are 2g anyways :j0 -
It appears there is a problem with the 3G network in my area.0

As I thought, it's a 3G fault. The phone, although slow and a couple of apps not working, is working OK on 2G. Atleast I can make calls and texts, go online.0

I am having problems too on my 3gs. my reception drops and picks up but if i go to another location it will be fine. If I try and send a text message say 10 times and it sends on the 10th attempt it will show only 1 message has been sent yet I have actually been charged 10 times not once which then eats into my fee allowance which has just resulted in me going over my allowance which i got the money back for. I can try and send a text say twice give up because i cant get it to send yet i later find out they got it twice yet it's still showing as not sent on my phone. I have wiped the sim, restored the phone, had the phone exchanged, had a new sim card, had them disconnect me and reconnect me and it's still happening AND IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE. My partner is also on o2 with a 3gs and he doesn't have the problems like i do HELP
EDIT: It's the same for mms and when i receive a text it can be 2 hours or even 24 hours after it was sent that i actually receive itThe best things in life are for FREE!!!If you like what you see and find this info useful, please use the thanks button. It costs nothing and means so much.0 -
It's still an on going problem with my iP4 and the 3G issue. It came on for a couple of hours Monday, then went down again and has been off since late Monday evening. Rang O2 for the upteinth time, and all I got was excuses and O2 telling me that I need "more patience". The service has been down 2 weeks.
EDIT: Even with turning 3G off, I am still having a number of problems. But, yet again, I go into another postcode and with 3G it all works fine. But atleast O2 confirm its a 3G fault in my area.0 -

At the very least I'd be looking for a partial refund of your monthly tariff (if on contract) to reflect the fact that you can't access 3g services at home. If you're on payg then perhaps you could ask for some free credit for the same reason. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

O2 network on 3G has been acting up over the last few days in the Midlands, I sent an MMS yesterday, only recieved today, my mate had sent me a text yesterday which arrived 12 times :eek:0 -
Mines still playing up too
Ive had to restart my 3gs every day for the last week as its the only way I can get the network and signal back
Its really annoying me now as Im having to resend text after text as they all fail and calls are not getting through to me, Will be phoning O2 yet again tonight when i get home (they need an alternative number they can call me on to do some tests on my phone apparently)
Come on O2 sort it out0 -
There's no doubt that congestion is a problem and OFCOM have recognised this, recently announcing that the networks will be allowed to sell spare capacity to each other. Since only O2 and Vodafone (and the firms that piggyback on them) are allowed to use the 900Mhz frequency, however, in practice this will actually mean those two companies buying capacity from EverythingEverywhere and Three, rather than the other way round. Still, it might solve the problems you're having in the Midlands at some point in the future. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button
