Problems with O2 - Can someone settle an argument?

My girlfriend who is also on O2 and with a iP4 also has similar problems, but not as bad a me. This is in our postcoded area where we think the fault is. Yet, like me, when she gets to work (in another postcoded area) her phone is working perfectly and healthy with O2.
I have spoken with O2 and they are going to contact Apple to see if any work has been done with the transmitter in the area. O2 should contact me back within the next 24 hours.
It just seems odd that two phones in the same postcoded area should start having O2 service issues at the exact same time.
I'm in Wolverhampton - W Mids.
Great fob off line, the O2 base stations have nothing to do with Apple, I suspect it is the handset, I'm on O2 and work in and around Wolver, no reception problems, there are folk in the office without complaint also, only note is that I can get onto BT openzone with my handset where as their devices do not see the openzone0 -
I'm in Walsall, we've been having issues with O2 for a while. I think the network may be getting congested, everyone around here seems to be with O2 and I've been hearing a few grumbles about them lately too.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0

Walsall is the other postcoded area I went into the other day and I must confess my iP4 was working perfectly fine, no glitches, full service and full bars. While in Walsall I went into the O2 shop and spoke with them. They said there is no way it can be the handset if it reads NO SERVICE on screen and the guy from O2 yesterday said that the issue is a service problem.0 -
I don't think it's the phone but guy in the Walsall O2 shop was wrong, we do see faulty phones saying "No Service" but only if it's a permanent issue, not intermittent like yourself. And it's not been a complete outage in Walsall either, just silly little issues like texts not arriving promptly or having a network busy error message when making calls during peak times. About 6 months ago, my partner lost 3G service with O2 for a week. It seems to be fine since but O2 have been less than reliable lately.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. If it's not the phone, how come none Apple handsets work fine in the same areas?0 -
Just tryed O2 again to hopefully get some sort of update on the situation as I am still waiting for their supposed verdict to what the fault actually is.
Best one so-far "Could be a 3G problem. If it is. . . . turn your 3G off".

I for one certainly cannot account for other peoples handsets working on O2 in my area, be them iP4 or other brands.
You can't no, I pass through Walsall to Wolverhampton, don't have an iphone 4, and other O2 users in the area I know are not experiencing problems on O2 at present, so 1) it is isolated to IP4s 2) it is isolated to a none fully functioning handset.0 -

Yep, that is feasable, it has been known for the 3g to be messing around and 2g is fine, it won't cost you anything to try it, and we have had similar in our area last summer0 -
Funny enough, just turned the 3G off and kept it on roam and all my signal bars shot up to a healthy 5 (full) where as before that they were fluctuating between 2 & 3.
However, would 3G cause problems with making/receiving calls, sending/receiving texts?0
