ikkle you are showing yet ? are you very slim ?
With DD i did not show till around 20 wks i think, only a tiny little bump and used to get upset when people commented if i was really pregnant cos i was very small... i ended up massive, believe me, i would rather prefered to have had a smaller baby and smaller bump !....i was very slim when pregnant with DD tho.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -
morning ladies.
good luck for your scan today anmarj. do let us know how it went. xxx
welshgirl, i totally know how you feel!!! i have never waited around for stuff like i have this time round. it is SO frustrating isnt it? i am so surprised that you havent got your scan date and you seeing the MW was so late. i had a feeling that my form wasnt sent initially to the hosp so i rang them to check and it was true. so had to ring the stupid GP's surgery and ask the rude receptionist to re-fax it. it was so annoying. then weirdly had the scan date like 22 days before and i have been counting and couting.
like you, i feel nervous, and as i had a mmc last time, i am scared. i know i will so scared to even look at the screen!i might have to stare at DH and hope he helps me out. Like other OH's and DH's he always likes to stay 'pragmatic and realistic'. i dont want that all the time and sometimes just hearing 'it will be fine' and him listening with a hug would just help right?
this weekend, he upset me as i know he meant well but he said if things dont turn out well this friday, we should start planning our big holiday that we were talking about for our 1st year anniversary trip to China. i got so upset and said i am not even thinking of things goings wrong so i can plan a stupid holiday? aghh men!!
sorry am rambling. i will be a mess on Friday for sure. :rotfl:
ps. i read the letter the hosptial sent me regarding the scan and there was nothing about drinking water beforehand. humph. nothing apart from a stupif form i had to fill out!Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Rups - I feel like I am counting down to your scan with you! I will be logged on Friday to find out that things have gone ok for you (as i'm sure they will) and then welcoming you to join us over on the 12-24 weeks thread!!!
I know it's not true for everybody but they say the risk of mc is 1 in 4 so if you look at it that way..statistically you have already had your 1 so statistically you should have a happy and positive scan
I never had to fill up on water beforehand but apparently skittles and a fizzy drink make the baby hyper and it bounces around loads which is good to see:jBaby Boy born December 20120 -
ahh thanks dizsie. just been a long wait thats why? lol.
yeah you are right about the statistics, yet i am still scared you know? it was 6 weeks ago at 6 weeks that we saw a little heart beat. i hope all is ok. i just keep thinking that.
last night i stupidly took my laptiop home, and the bag was heavy.:( then i was having my pain on the right side, and i was just getting worried. sigh.. its still there this morning as a niggling pain. stupid pain. hope little bubba is ok.Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

So, as no-one told me, I figured I'd go with a full bladder and if they wanted an empty one that would be easy to arrange... the scan lady did comment on how full my bladder was but it seemed to help with the imagesShe did spend some time trying to get the nuchal fold measurement right and was starting to consider sending me out to empty my bladder to encourage baby to turn around but managed it in the end without that.

thanks for that. i will make sure i drink loads before hand. you see my appointment is at 9.20 so i have to wake up earlier to finish my usual loo business and then drink up! grrr. a tea will help for sure and some water (yuck). i dnt mind having the fizzy stuff though. hehe.
the letter said to bring my notes. i dont have any at the mo.the MW has them and i was told i will get them at the scan. i have no idea how they do things!! i just have that scan letter and a stupid form that i filled that requested a passport?? weird! so you recommend doing the nuchal test too, as we have a choice not to go for that right? is it just via the scan and a blood test?Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

It will be your ligaments and nothing to do with the womb. The baby will be completely oblivious to your pain! I know this from personal experience - not only did I get right hand-side pain throughout my first trimester, it's really bad now because whilst trying to put the car seats down to get the cot in the car, I overdid it and I've twanged something muscular. It went away until I decided to scrub the kitchen floor! Now I can barely walkPerhaps at 39 weeks pg I ought to slow it down a bit...

You have a choice not to have any tests, including scans and midwife appts if you don't want them (although why wouldn't you?). The nuchal test is a really personal one. Are you prepared to have a CVS or amniocentesis if your risk of Down's comes back high? What would you do if you had the definitive test and your baby was found to have Down's?
It's worth just spending a few minutes mulling over these questions and discussing with your OH. For the vast majority of women, the nuchal test (measurement of the fluid at the back of the neck during the scan together with a blood test) is immensely reassuring because it confirms that your risk of having a baby with Down's is very low. (Remember that these tests can only tell you a risk factor - they're not conclusive).
But for some women, the tests return a raised risk and it's worth knowing beforehand how you'd proceed in these circumstances."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
my god fluff, take it easy woman... scrubbing the floor and stuff? i thought i was bad when i move around in bed and feel the pain, or get up from the loo seat too fast. ouch.. yesterday sneezing hard made me hold my belly after.
well i still feel sick which is a good sign i suppose, but it has def lessened now. i heard someone in the loo earlier this morning being so violently sick.
