What a problem with mothers here !! My mum lives in Argentina, i am so sad i cant have her here with me and she can not see my pregnancy progress, she couldnt do it with my DD and she will miss out in this baby too. It really breaks my hear that my child is not close to my mum and i feel my children will miss out in the long term. This was the main reason why i did not want a 2 child . Travelling over there is over a grand, it makes me sad to know that once this baby is born my chances of going over will be almost none. They can not come here, they are on the breadline there.
Anyway, i had my second driving lesson today and happy it is going well. Did i mention i am from Argentina ? Came here over 5 and 1/2 years ago, my OH is English.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -
Congratulations Countrybum! great news
- how do you feel? Any different? Any symptoms?
I feel both great and rubbish! My history is that I had a frist tri Mc, then a live birth, then another first tri mc, then a first tri missed mc, then a very early first tri mc, then got pregnant this time, so I'm nervous but trying to be positive.
Symptoms - mostly I am incredibly tired and have to have a nap daily. I also feel fairly sick most days, just nausea, and my boobs are sore and have Montgomery's tubercules. They are also sore when DD breastfeeds.
- when does MS generally start?
It can start quite early, I think 6-8 weeks is usual. But you may not have any. With DD I wasn;t sick at any point in pregnancy - but I threw up through my entire first stage of labour!!
- are you doing anything differently in terms of lifestyle/work now you're pg?
I changed my lifestyle and diet in order to conceive, so I cut out alcohol, caffeine, junk food (not that I ate much anyway, I cook from scratch), and have been trying to be healthy. Once I found out I was PG this time I stopped going to my yoga classes, just in case, as I'm very flexible so I wanted to avoid the possibility of doing something to the baby because I cannot hold back in postures.
- have you told anyone yet?
Yes. From my mcs, I have learned it is better if people know so there is s upport network in place for if things go wrong. So family and close friends all know, probably around 20 people in total.
- what happens at the booking appointment?
They spend aaages going through your family history, They want to know about blood clotting, cancers, allergies, miscarriages, all kinds of stuff. They check your urine and take blood, you get the results of the bloods at your 16 week appointment.
They also give you a Bounty pack which is full of rubbish, maybe one money-off voucher, and if you sign up for it you will recieve junk mail for ever after, even if you lose your baby, which can be upsetting. I got a letter asking me if I wanted to do a newborn shoot the other day - and there is no real way of ensuring you don;t get those. Bounty are a commercial organisation so think carefully about whether you want them to sell your details on and if not, don;t bother signing up.
I didn;t get anything useful out of the Bounty packs, and wouldn;t now sign up for it, knowing what I do.
someone once said: If it seems to be free, then you are the one being sold.
- have you started to show yet?
No. In the first tri you do bloat so you get a little tummy, but it is not really showing and no-one will notice even if you do! You usually show around 5 months in first pregnancies, and a bit earlier in other pregnancies cos your muscles are slack!
No news for me - four weeks today I have my scan so am counting down. morning ladies. how are you all?
ah morocha how do you find living here? You must miss Argentina no? I have been here for 18 years now! wow. i still dearly miss Kenya as our circumstance to come here were so different. UK offered us a lot and we are thankful for that! :j Its hard about your mum, but maybe you could arrange something for her, when you have your baby, and then plan something the year after for you to go. something can be worked out right? I know this is weird, but i do wonder if i had that distance with my mum, it may be better? not sure! lol
