Rups/fluffnutter - your exchanges do make me chuckle!!
Well, I went to the doc's for the first time. For some reason I was really nervous as I went in! Shouldn't have been as all she asked was "do you smoke" "do you eat healthily" and "are you taking folic acid" and said to book in with the midwife for 2 weeks time. Gave me a little advice re food - stay away from raw egg (did tell her I work with eggs everyday!) and to wash salad.
Does anyone else wash salad? I've survived 30 years of eating unwashed salad and eating mudpies (as a child, not as an adult but as an adult I have been known to eat my lunch on a tractor without washing my hands *shock horror*)
Well, I ask that, then I do think "but if anything went wrong and I hadn't washed a lettuce leaf I'd never be able to forgive myself".
I also asked her about working on tractor. She said that doing too much bumping around isn't advisable but wouldn't give me a reason.
Think I could be in for an interesting family summer as my Mum says she thinks I'll be fine and that everything will be ok. We're not really talking about it in detail as I know that she secretly thinks we shouldn't get too excited or make too many plans till 12 weeks. Prob is, 12 weeks for me conincides with the beginning of harvest and if it is not good employing someone else.
Argh - 30 years old and I still can't stand up to my mother??!!!
Bet my mum is going to be known as "scary granny" to our kids!0 -
ah zcrat. i know what you mean. my mum still tells me off for silly things and i am 33!! lol. i even get scared asking her how her day was. we just cant talk much but only about the main things.
i have eaten salad out of the bags and stuff. I was told to wash things like vegetables properly before eating them, just because of the dirt containing some sort of parasite that can be harmful (cause toxoplasmosis?). even to be careful from cat poo/litter as it contains the same parasite.Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

I think the washing salad is the toxoplasmosis possiblity as rups said. There's also something you can catch from infected goats I think it was, and of course also from anything an infected goat could have been in contact with (like the soil, and consequently whatever is grown in it). I think it's far too easy to get way too worried about things!0 -

i am around addiscombe but a bus ride away from east Croydon station. I hate the journey into work though, with no seat on most days.

Hi guys,
Hope everyone's good today.
I read the vit d chat with interest yesterday and may pick some up as I've now stopped the pregnacare.
skintchick- hi due date buddy!! :hello: January sounds forever away but it hopefully won't go too slowly for us, or too quickly!!!
Looks like a lot of you are round the same area of London, how exciting! I love London! I'm tucked up in the north of Scotland hence the need to top up vitamin d as sunshine is not a frequent visitor to these parts!MARCH GROCERY CHALLENGE £118/ £2500 -
