Rups can you ask them to use foils as then the colour won't touch your scalp. It won't give you the coverage of an all over colour but it will look better.

Rups, it is really up to you, many people say no, because of the hormones, the end result may not look as desired. I have dark hair but i am not dying cos i just cut in march to re grow it healthy but i will get highlights because i know after the birth I get really down about my looks.
Ask the girls at the salon, i am sure they can help, also celebrities always have their hair dyed while pregnant. Is this your first pregnancy ? I was the same with my DD, in the end i dyed with a natural dye with no amonia.

i wish i could get highlights but that wont cover my greys. my hair is dark also otherwise but the greys are showing by my ears and some strands on top. they show as my hair is dark. i am not sure now esp if everyone is sort of saying wait till after 1st trimester. maybe i should if i am not feeling too sure?

I read that the risk is less about transfer to the baby as very little is absorbed through your skin, but more about how your skin will react as it becomes more sensitive during pregnancy. If the patch test is fine I'm sure you'll be ok but it's completely up to you. If you don't feel comfortable don't do it. Give the salon a call and ask their advice.

yeah the patch test was done yesterday and it didnt itch or anything, and when i rang them up i did ask and they said its fine. they use the loreal ones and she said they are mild. i have bought a herbal.natural one from Holland and Barrette's ( can never spell it right). so maybe i can do it at home? just thought at the salon they do a much better job as i always miss places.

It's really up to you. If you are going to end up worrying after you've had it done then maybe leave it until later. I did mine at 13 weeks after our dating scan. It really needs doing again but I can't afford to go to the hairdressers and have foils so I'm going to have to do it myself. Just need to get up the energy to do it ;)

I got the impression when researching hair dye that there is no evidence to say that it is bad for the baby as not much is absorbed through the scalp however there is also inconclusive evidence that it doesn't do anything (if that makes sense) which is why they advice to wait until after the first trimester.

It is more likely to affect mums skin which is why you have to do a skin test (which you have done)

An natural hairdye with out all the nasty chemicals should be ok, I have one but it is bright purple so probably not the one for you :D

I still wash my hair with head and shoulders anti dandruff and sure that has lots of chemicals in but haven't heard anyone say to avoid shampoo.
