I think with you, Rups, this wouldn't really help. You're very anxious, and rather than put your mind at rest, weekly scans would just get you right at it.

The thing with anxiety is you've got to learn to reassure yourself and try to learn techniques that help you put things in perspective. If you seek reassurance from others (as you would be doing by having weekly scans) you don't overcome the underlying problem which is your own over-sensitive response to natural worries about your baby.

I'm not criticising you for your response btw; I'm the same, I'm just trying to point out that it's a learnt behaviour and weekly scans will just exacerbate the behaviour when what you really want to do is try to unlearn it and think differently.

Rups, I get pain when I cough/sneeze, which is due to ligaments stretching it's very normal.

Hey, just wait until later on, when you don't just get pain when you cough or sneeze - you piss yourself too :D

thanks fluffnutter. i see your point. i spoke to my aunt yesterday and she said the same thing but its sooo damn hard. actually most days the nausea and headaches keep me busy as i get drained but when i get some time at work, then i start thinking. actually whether i worry or not, there is nothing i can do if something happens right? so might as well try and chill out. i always manage to calm myself down and then something little triggers it and i am back to panicking. :) its in phases, i promise. :0)

erm not looking forward to the peeing bit. hehe think i will wear those thick pads. ;p

sarara how come you managed to get three early scans? i only had mine at 6 and then at the epu they said to come back if in any pain, or get bleeding. i would love to go and get weekly scans is i could, but they probably call me mad and send me home, so am just waiting. looking forward to sunday and then seeing when scan is, and to be honest, i am going to be nervous thinking about the scan.. its already causing butterflies in my belly now. :o

I got three early scans because I'm under consultant care - I've had three miscarriages and no full term pregnancies so it's considered to be recurrent and I was undergoing testing for it when we fell pregnant again. It's part of my treatment plan, and my consultant was happy to have it to either give us reassurance or to try and identify if there was one specific trigger to the miscarriages. I haven't had to go through the EPU, I was just stuck directly under my consultant. I think the statistics are something like your chance of having one miscarriage is approx 20% (depending on maternal age and things like that), and even having two is about 2.25%, but the chance of having three in a row is less than 0.34% so at that point you can get a referral.

Trust me, I'd much rather not be eligible for it, if you see what I mean... :)

It gets better, lovey, trust me. The first trimester's the worse, but you do get more confident as things progress. Once you've had your scan, and start feeling your baby wriggling, you will massively relax. You'll still get the odd moment, we all do, but it's much more manageable than the first few miserable months.
