LM, I haven't had alcohol in about 4 years now. I got really drunk on NYE and was sick for 2 days, since than I can't even think about drinking anything. So for me it's easy to avoid it.
OH saw a very well known specialist in Warsaw the day before yesterday who agreed to operate on him on the 31st May. He will need to go for check ups for 6 weeks every week so won't be back till end of July. The operation and follow-up appointments will cost us appr £3k so I'm now in a mad rush to pull our savings together which is a bit complicated as we have saving accounts in 3 different countries. He has no option but to go for the op as according to the surgeon without it he will be dead within a year

Abis - sorry to hear about your MMC, it can never be easy news to receive
thoughts are with you, i recently had a friend go through a similar thing.
Rups - congrats on the scan you had. Hopefully now your mind has been put to rest a bit more so you can relax?
Candlewax - congratulations
As for me - We had our scan yesterday and they have moved me forward so baby is now due on 17th November instead. Will be moving onto the 12+ weeks scan but may be keeping an eye on here (as i do the TTC thread) to wish you all luck.

There has never been any suggestion that 'light' drinking, i.e. a couple of units a week, will harm your baby.
The public health message has recently become more muddled re. whether all drinking should be avoided not because there is increased evidence, but simply because it's become obvious that some women can't interpret 'light'. To the odd (uneducated?) woman 'light' might well mean cutting down from 2 bottles of wine a day to two glasses.

morning ladies.. lots of interesting posts on here.
abis take care of youself and good luck with the eprc. we hope to see you here very soon. xxxx hugs
regarding alcohol, i was told yesterday to keep off drinking and smoking (which i have never done), just as a precaution. when i left the hospital, i saw two women outside the main entrance. one of them had a son already and she was pregnant and smoking. that shocked me a bit
i know i should be MUCh calmer now, but now all i can think of is the main scan and me seeing that little on is ok.. is it ok after you detect the heart beat? i keep thinking of that. i so need to find a hobby to take my mind off things. :rotfl:
i want to to try and eat healthy but i just dont fancy so much. last night i just dumped a chicken kiev into the oven and didnt even finish it and ended up having oven chips. i still have the eeky feeling. it seems less today. does it change all the time, or stay the same until a few weeks? i dont want to pick on new things to start worrying on. :0)Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Rups I lived off ham salad sandwiches from our local sarnie shop and ice lollies for the first trimester. I'm still faddy as hell with food at 19 weeks, I even cried yesterday cos my OH told me I had to eat my spaghetti cos i'd not eaten yet and i couldn't eat it cos it was horrible xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

ikkle i agree. DH is trying to make me eat 'properly' and he made me an omlette yesterday, but he added chicken tikka bits to it and i looked at it and went yuck and he got annoyed, so he made me another one with just tomatoes, cheese and potatoes which i could eat. when i think of food i feel sick . i still have soup in the fridge today at work and i dont think i can stomach it.Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Luckily when my OH 'treats me to a home-cooked meal', it's inevitably a Pot Poodle and I've found those relatively easy to eat."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Rups you need to stop googling hun cos your not going to help yourself, and there is nothing you can do that will change things. I know that sounds horrible but it's true. All you can do is take each day/week one at a time and enjoy them.
I had a missed miscarriage last time. This pregnancy so far I've had bleeding, stomach cramps with shoulder pain, been exposed to slapped cheek and the worst thing I did each time was google cos it just fills you with a dread that isn't necessary.
Many doctors won't do any early monitoring after 1 miscarriage as after 1 miscarriage the chances of having a second are not increased. It tends to be after 3 consecutive miscarriages that they will do testing. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
