  • Hi all,

SexK1tten: I apologise you had to remove yourself, I copied and pasted the original list and pressed send before thinking. I did edit the list straight away as I realised my mistake but I think that the list I originally put up was the one used to copy over. I am very sorry that you had to come back in and change it yourself, I haven't been online much this week and didn't realise the error :(

Collumster: I am so sorry to hear your news, my only advice would be to take as long as you need off work and make sure you get the support you need - my thoughts are with you.

RebekahR: I hope you feel better soon, have you had the flu jab?

Well ladies (and gent), I am 12+1 by my dates today, am stupidly nervous about the scan on Wednesday. Am going to stay here until we have got throught that milestone if that's ok :)

Poor you, hun. It's horrid, isn't it?

Have you tried the gargling with warm water and salt? The salt acts as an anti-inflammatory and helps the annoying itchy feeling. And it's a more :money:solution then most.

Wow! This is a quiet thread, isn't it?

I had my flu jab yesterday and so far so well - no side effects at all and didn't even feel a tiny pr1ck. Insert joke here:p

1ST mw appointment tomorrow, 10wks on the nose. Shall I take FMU for my sample???Can't remember.

Jovi Fingers and toes crossed for a healthy scan for you. Understand the nerves totally and keep posting.

    How is everyone else coping?
  • Hi Cheebie :)

It can be quite quiet on this thread, I think that the symptoms of the first 12 weeks of PG might have a little to do with it!

Good luck tomorrow, I didn't take a sample with me, my first appt was in the afternoon so she definately didn't get FMU :o

I am doing ok, just irrationally panicing over scan :o

Hey Jovi:hello:, It's funny I think this is a nice distraction from the constant nausea so quite like posting:). It really drags too so it's nice to chat to others who are also impatiently waiting.

And I'd say you were being human by being so nervous- shows how much you care and want this baby...a good mummy trait.

    I think I'll take high-noon urine:p as it's 2.45pm for my appointmt.

  • Well, RebekahR, the good news is that you're probably got at least another 4-5 weeks of nausea and tiredness, if my DW is anything to go by. She's practically flat out exhausted and unable to do much at all. And we're only at the 8 weeks stage tomorrow. On the good side, we have a date for a midwife appointment, and a booking scan (which is in week 13, on Dec 28th, so something to worry about during the festivities...) so all we have to do is to make sure we get there!

As for our plans for the next week, we have a huge dilemma ahead of ourselves. Before the IVF treatment, we booked a week in Paris, either to drown our sorrows if it failed, or celebrate and relax if it all worked. My DW is almost refusing to go, now, because she thinks she won't enjoy it. But, in my opinion, it'll be a nice break, a chance to switch off, lie in, relax, and have a nice refreshing citron presse. We've asked for an ultrasound either tomorrow or Tuesday, and if all's ok, we'll go and relax and have fun. If not, we'll have to rely on the travel insurance and cancel.

    Any thoughts/comments/suggestions?

I can see your DW's point. It sounds like she is suffering, and TBH, when i was in the middle of my 20 weeks of sick misery, i wouldnt have fancied it much myself. Thats said, it would depend a bit on what the schedule was. If my DH was willing to just chill in the hotel and not be out and about, it might have been more attractive.
Problem i can forsee, is i'm not sure pregnancy is going to be accepted by insurers as a reason for cancellation- it usually has to be something they classify as "illness" and i seem to recall seeing pregnancy as an excluded condition. It might depend on if you could persuade your doc to write a letter saying he doesnt recommend your wife to travel. But best call the insurance first to see their position, before you make any definate decision.

We went to France afte the embryo transfer - the transfer was on Saturday (3 day) and we were flying out on Monday. I enjoyed it, it helped me to relax and get away from it all. I had OHSS be the mid week, but none the less, I loved that week.

OH going to Germany in 3 weeks for an interview and asking me to come as well. If he does get the job, we want to make sure that we like the place. And I don't know if I want to go. I am so tired walking in town for just over an hour today has knocked me out completely, I can't imagine spending all afternoon in town while he is in the interview. I think we will wait a week or so and see. I don't want to pay cas either, and have some miles I could use if I book the flights in the last 2 weeks.

  • We've spoken to our travel insurance, and basically have the following scenario. If our GP says he's happy for us to go (because there are no complications and that the scan shows good progress), then the travel insurance will pay for any treatment in France if we need any (as will EHIC). If the GP says we shouldn't go, then the travel insurance will pay for cancellation, and refund our fees.

If we relax in Paris or we relax here at home, then there's not really much difference. Staying at home, if anything, might encourage my DW to do more house jobs, cleaning or ironing or shopping - hardly relaxing...

And ginvzt, where in Germany - I've spent a lot of time out there (I studied French and German at university), it has lots of lovely places so I'm sure you'll enjoy it. And since you have undergone IVF treatment, have you had any side-effects during the pregnancy as a result of the IVF treatment? My DW is suffering from some OHSS-related symptoms, her ovaries are still swollen (they were on Wednesday after the emergency ultrasound following lots of discharge and stressing)...
