Thank you for the reassurance ddebski!! I think half the problem with the worrying is, is that there are too many horror stories on the internet!! Google is my enemy! Just cant wait to get to 12 weeks.

Hi everyone. Sorry I've been mute but I've continued sleeping for most parts of the time I'm not working!

Brilliant to see lots of newbies - congrats! Wishing each and everyone of you a happy and healthy pregnancy.

I have been lurking when I've been awake so I've been keeping up but I have to admit to not remembering who has said what! Is it too early to blame a baby brain?! That's my excuse for now anyway ;)

Well, following my scan I am now currently 14 weeks and 5 days. It still doesn't quite seem real (snap JCR). I'm really pleased though that I got a letter this morning saying the downs test has come back as a 1in 8800 chance and classed as negative so I'm releived about that.

I might start buying a few bits now. :T DH and I still haven't decided whether or not to find out the flavour so I'm not totally sure what I'll buy.

As a reassurance to those who aren't getting many symptoms I barely had any. My bo o b s hurt until about 9 or 10 weeks and apparently I had mood swings but at no stage did I suffer even the tinniest flicker of MS and the tiredness only really kicked in around 11 weeks. Even though I've had tiredness, it was no where near as bad as many people have mentioned. Thrush unfortunately kicked in at around 11 or 12 weeks and won't go! :(

My scan has proved that I have a healthy baby so even though everyone told me to relax and enjoy having no symptoms I didn't! So, take it from a paranoid preggers lady - no symptoms doesn't mean you should worry! So please do relax and enjoy.

    xx

doglover i had my letter last week. even tho i knew no matter what it said it wouldn't change anything i was so pleased with result. it was 1 in 19000 ( can't remember exact) but when i had my first ds the result was 1 in 200 and i'm alot older now( was 22 when i fell for him, now 29, as i was expecting a low result, can't remember figure last pg tho).

i also am sleeping loads, but then i've always been able to sleep standing up,lol.i think when you have lots of symptons you hate it, but when you have none you wish for some as you don't feel preg. typical women , never happy, lol.

JCR your result is brill! I am 31 so do you think that is a reason my result isn't as good as yours? I'm assuming that because it said negative that's got to be good? Anyhow, I have my next midwife app on 9th March so I'll speak to her then. I do remember that she said that I'd get a phonecall rather than a letter if they were concerned.

DH keeps saying I'm mad for not relaxing and enjoying it but I am just so desperate for this pregnancy to be ok. I am going to make an effort now to relax and enjoy!

What is everyone's thoughts on finding out the gender?
  • Great news doglover. I'm glad things are going well for you and jcr too. I'm almost 12 weeks now and looking forward to this new lease of energy I've heard about. Been telling more people. Family and most close friends now know, boss does too but I'm not ready to go public with the whole office.

I havent had masses of symptoms flower08 but the definitely come and go. Some days I'm so run down and sickly I don't know how I can carry on and then others are totally normal and I almost forget.

i don't think so, i think there are alot of factors which give you the result. i was told the older you are the lower the result might be, but i think it depends on so much more than that. you've got a great result. i was told anything less that 150 now is classed as a low result.

why at 22 i had such a low number i will never know. They offered me amnio's and all sorts of test to see if baby had downs. but we refused. i said at end of day if my son has it then so be it.i spent rest of pregnancy being pro-active and finding out about downs support groups in my area meeting other mum's with down children and learning as much as i could. My son was born with no signs at all. and i was very grateful, but i knew if he had it then i was as prepared as i could be.

as for flavour of baby. were gonna be finding out. we have 1 dd and 2 ds. so i really don't mind but i would love to have pink this time. also we have chosen two fantastic names. but i just love the girls name we have chosen. it just really works . but also have a great boys name . oh how twins would be so good about now, lol.

JCR I seem to work on the same body clock as you! DH and I are swaying towards finding out but that's simply because our fave pushchair comes in such cute colours so we're loathed to go for black or grey when the other colours are lovely. Shallow! Also, we'd like to personalise the nursery to pink or blue. However, we are both keen on having the news at the birth. I guess we'll see whether the baby wants us to know at the next scan.

We have chosen names too and we both love our pink name. We've been given some boy bits and another friend has girl bits to give us.

That said, a healthy baby is all we want.
