To the lady who is worried about revealing her pregnancy because of redundancies. You are much more protected if you do reveal you are pregnant than if you don't. An employer cannot make you redundant solely because you are pregnant (without leaving themselves open to being sued).
That doesn't mean that they can't make you redundant - they just can't treat you any different because you are pregnant. In larger companies (that take HR advice) it means that they will avoid making a pregnant woman redundant unless they have clearly demonstrable other reasons for that post being made redundant.
I'm sure there are still employers who will tell a pregnant woman they are being made redundant because they are pregnant - but my advice in those situations is to get that in writing/email if poss and either way find themselves a lawyer as they have a good chance of winning!
On another note, my nausea/sickness is getting better and I have my scan tomorrow so fingers crossed!
Managed to put my foot in it over the weekend though. Told an old friend I see a few times a year that I was pregnant and she got very upset. I had no idea she was TTC. It was all very difficult and I wish I hadn't said anything, but my OH points out it wouldn't be something I could have hidden forever. Although in fairness I could have waited longer to say something. I just didn't know. Feel pretty bad about it though.0 -

Aww try not to stress too much I posted something similar here about one of my closest friends who is also trying to conceive and hasn't been successful as yet she didn't speak to me much for weeks. I have given her some space and she has eventually (just in the last week) come back around to see me we haven't talked about it I don't want her to feel any more attention drawn to it and upset her further and she has talked about my pregnancy with me too she brought it up and also began asking advice on TTC which I have provided from the help of the lovely ladies on the trying for a baby thread !
I know its hard when you're so happy but also feel like you're upsetting someone who you care about but she will come to terms with it her own way and I guess that may mean she doesn't see you for a while that may be a pill you simply have to swallow as hard as it may be just give her some space.
HTH a little
Take carexx

Hi peeps, I haven't been on for a while been busy at work and moving house etc, anyways looking for some info if you can help.
I have an appointment with the hospital in 2 weeks and this will bring me to 14 weeks, I am unsure if this is for my scan or just a visit to the midwife as the letter only says I need to bring along a urine sample and I will be there for up to 2 hours, if this isn't my scan will it not be a bit late to schedule one in after this??0 -
LUCY - Just to let you know i've had my letter from Kingston hospital re booking in appointment and scan. So hopefully yours should arrive soon!DFD February 2012

Really, do not worry. You cannot help that is hasnt happened for her yet, its not your doing and you worrying wont help her either. This is great news for you so enjoy it! I had trouble with someone too as I figured out she was pregnant from her facebook posts but she was being "secretive" (obviously not enough lol) and I spoke to her about it, in the following weeks she lost her baby and I had to tell her that I was 12 weeks and wanting to announce it to people but didnt want to upset her so was waiting. I got a load of carp and things about rubbing salt in wounds and called some really nasty names but it wasnt my fault and I had been looking forward to being bump buddies as we were only 5 weeks apart, me being the further along. It was sad and it really affected me in the beginning but now I think there was nothing I could do for her and it would have been her 3rd kid where this is my first. You just have to let it go and realise its not your fault. And hope it will happen for them one day and then it will all be forgotten:j0 -

Welcome Northern Girl
I have been [STRIKE]stalking[/STRIKE] ahem following your progress on the trying for a baby thread and Congratulations are in order:D
Anyone else here having any pelvic pain ?
I had SPD in my last pregnancy with DS2 and it kicked in at 16wks ish I had a brace and a lovely set of crutches then
Have seen my GP who didn't really take me seriously and just gave me a number for physio I am currently waiting for physio to return my call
GP did prescribe codeine initially to help with the pain 2 x 15mg tablets four hourly after much arguing about the safety of that and showing me in the BNF that it is perfectly safe :rotfl:I am a nurse and very anal about these things lol
That helped a bit but when I saw a different GP last week he said oh you shouldn't be taking that its too strong and told me to take ibuprofen :eek::eek::eek: I explained to him the dangers of such a course of action and he eventually agreed to give me some more codeine but stated that he didn't want me taking anymore than four tablets in a day !
I have tried to follow his advice but it hurts so badly I have ended up disregarding it and following the advice of the first doc.
Does anyone know what the specialist is called for advice about the problems I am having I don't hold out much hope for the physio's but am giving it a go anyway have done a lot of reading and advice is conflicting from resting to taking gentle exercise I really want to stop this pain before it gets any worse ! Anyone have experience of it ?? I know its a big ask don't get me wrong and I don't want medical advice as such just the name of the specialists I should ask to be referred to !
Oh I also am not particularly happy about the painkillers I would like to get to a stage where I do not need any but until I get some specialist advice it seems that is all that I have
Thanks in advance
