Hi everyone, how are we all today? I need to tell my boss about my scan on Friday, as she was on holiday last week when I got the letter, but she's not been at her desk all morning! Maybe I'll get a chance this afternoon!
Amanda, no advice at all I'm afraid but I just wanted to ask (at the risk of looking stupid...) what is SPD? I keep seeing it mentioned here there and everywhere, but don't actually know what it stands for!
Thanks
Oh and welcome to NG!! Congrats on your BFPLike Amanda, I also still lurk on the TTC thread, in the hope that everyone will be joining us on here soon, so it's always great to see another BFP!!

Thanks for the welcomes! I'm usually more of a lurker but am in 'get involved' mode today! I rang the doctors this morning and the receptionist wanted to book me an appointment for 2m morning! I freaked a bit and said I'd ring back later in the week (expected her to say ring back in a few weeks - lol) I'm dreading all of the appointments - I really hate going to the doctors and haven't been for at least 3 years!!
OH wants to come (although I think that's unnecessary) but think it's his way of making ammends - he was disappointingly neutral when I showed him the 2 (admittedly very faint) tests on Thursday. (He's usually very lovely though). I had visions of us doing the next test together/waiting for the result / getting teary (I know - very over-dramatic and unrealistic but in my head that's how I wanted it to be!! LOL). Instead I did confirmation test on my tod and texted him the picture and he still thought it was ok to go for a pint after work (ok, it was a pre-arranged leaving do but I wanted him to rush home!) Rant over and I know it's hard for the men folk0 -
Hi Northern Girlie!! I too have been waiting for a few days now for your results on the ttc board! Congrats!DFD February 2012

Mega excited though! Some of you have put me at ease. This is my first so no idea whats going on but the neusea has went but the tiredness and fatigue is still here but i honestly thought things would be worse, a little worried because its not what i thought it would be!
Also have the same prob with a friend who has lost a baby recently, how do i bring up i'm pregnant......like they say above, not something I can hide forever?

Hi everyone, hope you're all well
Well although i still don't feel very preggers i have very sore
b()()bies! Went to my friends on Friday night and told her, came home armed with baby magazines and books. Also as they are moving house and have an 8 month old her OH was already packing me a box of stuff so it wouldn't have to go into storage, steralisers, bottle warmers and all sorts of things. Am super glad i went as i got a full lesson in maternity bras:rotfl:and it really couldn't have come too soon! Friday they were so sore they woke me up twice and Saturday night 5 times! So had a mad dash to mothercare yesterday to buy some sleeping bras and had a lovely sleep last night (although i still seem unable to sleep past 4am). Got a bit sentimental as it was my 1st visit to mothercare i think DH thought i was a bit hormonal as i blubbed in the car park.
1st midwife appointment next monday which i am looking forward to.
I wanted a bit of advice i am supposed to be having a procedure on Monday 11th after my midwife appointment it's TMI ALERT!!! a camera up my behind! Now the reason i am having it done hasn't happened for 3 weeks and my Dr actually said they didn't expect to find anything and if they did it would be nothing serious and i really don't want to have it done. I have rang the ward where i would be an out patient and they said it's fine to do in the early stages but i would still rather just cancel it-what do you think? I'm not in any pain, they aren't expecting to find anything nasty so i just don't want to put little bean at risk!
Anyhoo that's a bit longer than i intended, must get on with some work now.

Lol I wouldn't have had a clue either til I got it in last pregnancy with DS2 I hought SPD was a brand of power rangers :rotfl::rotfl:
It stands for Symphasis Pubis Dysfucntion ?? spelling it is where your body produces too much of pregnancy hormone relaxin too early. Your body releases this hormone to relax all the ligaments and muscles in your body ready for when you give birth to allow baby through the birth canal.
Apparently 1 in 35 of us suffer it at some level and it doesn't usually kick in until late second trimester but some unlucky people get it earlier I have read today that it is more likely to happen if you've been induced or had epidural in earlier pregnancy don't know how solid that advice is though but I did have both of those with DS1 and never had it before so it would fit it kicked in at about 16wks properly last time and I've now had it for about a week but it was initially being masked by my kidney infection
Last time I had a brace and crutches supplied by physio but it can get as bad as people going into wheelchairs :eek: so not something to be taken lightly lots of medics however dismiss it as pregnancy niggles :mad: and it can be difficult to get taken seriously.
If you get it (unluckily) you will know about it it is mega painful if you have it bad and you will experience daily pain from it.
I have booked to see a chiropractor today so am doing that wednesday as I've read good things about them on t'interweb so am really hoping that they can help :ospoke to my boss earlier and she wasn't very supportive sounded rather grumpy that I was off:( so am now feeling guilty that I'm ill haven't really had a good day hope everyone else is doing better !!

Hi all,
Scan went well - heartbeat very clear and baby wiggled around nicely once we woke it up. Thankfully just the one in there and I'm not quite as far along as the dates had suggested - I've been dated as 11+1 today.
Very relieved all seems well and I've told pretty much everyone now!0 -
Mozzy & roxalana. So glad both of your scans went well.
Mozzy, we also really thought the private scan was worth peace of mind.
Roxalana, so pleased you're now sharing your news. You must be ecstatic! :j
