I'm just amazed that you can even be bothered to get gussied up and go out. It's all I can manage to go to work

I read on the internet this morning that Kelly Brook has lost her baby at 5 months. That's the 3rd celeb to have lost a baby in recent months, and all past the 20 week mark. Just goes to show that reaching the 12 week mark really isn't that reassuring after all  Whenever I read about someone having a mc it puts the fear of God into me and I ruminate on it for days after :(

What scares me is how far on they are when they lose them

Well this is half the problem, I can't be bothered and am doing all I can to avoid invites... even lunches at work are a mission because I feel like barfing.
And yesterday I worked from home, on the sofa with my duvet and only left the flat to pick up a takeaway in the evening because I'd been too lazy to go foodshopping or cook (then the Thai takeaway turned my tummy so I barely ate it!). Making it in to work today was a big effort, though I do feel better for it.

I also got some of those travel wristband things... Not sure if they're really working or if it's psychological; I still feel icky, but not quite as much.
What scares me is how far on they are when they lose them

It's really sad isn't it... I thought the same re the 12 week mark, just goes to show that pregnancy that whilst a real blessing is still a huge physical and slightly risky thing. I guess this is the start of worrying about our babies forever more.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on the NT. Alot of varied views and info around from different M/W then. I guess i'll have to wait and see if i get "accepted" by the hospital (ridiculous, waiting lists for giving birth now as well as schools!) and then what appointment they offer me first.

Had a really awful episode of M/S as 9.30 last night. Came on suddenly and was over the loo for 5 minutes till i thought i was going to bust a blood vessel. Its my birthday today, so no drinking, and now i'm anxious about DH taking me out for a dinner treat, in case i barf up my dinner again. And the new larger boobies bra i bought on Thursday which fitted very well, seems to miraculously now be 2 sizes too small in the cups. If the boob expansion keeps up at this rate, i'm going to topple forwards later, with belly and boobs!

Happy Birthday Kira hun, I'm sure you'll be fine at dinner, just eat slowly and drink lots of water. LOL my boobs have definitely gone up a cup size, my bras now dig in an awful lot, as I'm off work for 2 weeks I think I hall be braless the whole time, why not hey! Think I'll just end up buying some cheapo bras from Primark until I need maternity ones. I still want pretty bras, I love my underwear collection and would hate to have to go to wearing plain old boring black or white ones.

Im having my scan next wednesday when Im 13 weeks and told that I will get blood tests there as part of the CUBS - will receive a letter in 2-3 weeks time with the results.

Last night and today I have a bit of bleeding so scheduled for a scan this afternoon. Fingers crossed its nothing to worry about - a friend had this and her baby was ok. Roll on 2.30pm for the scan - 1st time to see and will be 12 weeks tomorrow.

I have passed the nausea stage but still feeling a bit tired. Hope it passes as going out saturday night with a friend for dinner and theatre.

Jen I have problems with low blood pressure and anemia and I was told by my doctor not to do that, but then it did get really bad and (as some people already know) I was hospitalized and given 4 pints of blood :o

The advice she gave me was more like pigpens, although I'll admit that immediate sugar rush is useful if you feel like you're about to pass out on the bus.

That could be because I have a strong family diabetes history though and they worry about me developing type 2.

With the lbp and anemia, then low blood sugar may not necessarily be the cause of the problem. Treating with lots of sugar could cause the rise/fall problem, but when your blood sugar is too low, you usually have too MUCH insulin already. I'm really surprised to hear that clinicians are telling people to go with proteins/carbs in cases of hypoglycemia. You simply do *not* get the sugar fast enough to correct the problem. You should be eating carbs throughout the day to prevent the problem from occurring in the first place, but that's not always possible (particularly if you're PG and puking up everything :p)

I don't mean to be argumentative, but it's really the opposite of everything I've learned in school and training. If blood sugar is the issue, the NHS, Diabetes UK, even my First Aider training..every place I can think of says...drink juice, eat sugar etc.

The anemia though is a whole different issue. I too, have been unfortunate enough to have been hospitalized/given blood (had spectacularly horrid cycles for awhile).
