can I join?
I'm due on 11.11.11
Had a little trouble early on (first the hospital thought the pregnancy was ectopic, then I had light spotting) but after two early scans, all seems well, growing at the right rate, with a beautiful fluttery little heartbeat0 -
Hi, another one to join the club please!
A completely unexpected positive test result for me on Saturday night, have been on the pill for years and was quite happy to just stay with my nearly-7 year old son. I'm a student teacher mid-way through my PGCE, and I think the stress of my last placement and the delay in getting to the doctors for new pill prescription (although had been careful throughout) have led to us being here!
Saturday night was full of lots of tears and shock, but all calmed down yesterday. Unsure of exact dates yet as can't remember last period exactly, but am thinking is somewhere around 5/6 weeks so due mid December ish. Have only told my 2 best friends as yet, 1 is a student midwife so she'll be a very useful person to know! Will try and leave it a few more weeks before telling more people but not sure if I'll be able to!
Have got a lot of stuff to sort out, bf needs to move in, I need to get through a very stressful next teaching placement and won't actually be earning any money after May. Sure will all be OK, bf is paid well although his job is only confirmed until next May (RAF). Plenty of friends and family around us to help out.
So that's me! Is nice to be able to share the news with people early on, hopefully I'll remember to keep popping in.Little lady arrived 13/12/110 -
hey girls im still here too,we've all just been plodding along i guess so have nothing fun to post. it was my birthday on saturday and i worked all day!
on the plus side i have by booking appointment tomorrow when i'll be 11 weeks. really hope i get a scan date before end of month, but i doubt it.
only people that know are my OH and myself, i cant wait to tell!
Congratualtions all new parents to be and best of luck to you all, and love to all existing ladies.
Still havent heard anything from rwb?let he without sin cast the first stone0 -
Hi All,
I was hoping I could join. I built up the courage to join the TTC thread after TTC for over 2years and ended up only staying two weeks, so hoping that I will be on this thread a bit longer than that.
Found out I am pregnant last Monday and have taken 6 tests to confirm it. Doctor has confirmed potential due date of 07.12.2011 and taken my blood tests. My 1st midwife appointment is on the 13th May. Still in denial about the whole thing and am convinced that my hormones have somehow managed to give a false positive.
Congratulations to everyone I hope your pregnancies are treating you well.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

I am just going to sneak in and lurk for a bit for some moral encouragement as after 10 years of being on the pill, my Good Lady Wife took only 6 weeks to discover she is pregnant. I think though that I will be the one needing all the support though because she currently has to live with her parents because of her working commute while we sell up and move north!
So in what is possibly every other expectant fathers dream is my nightmare as I had the first "Its +ve" at 7.30am at work with the boss stood behind me, will miss being the moral support when she visits the midwife in two weeks for the confirmation visit and generally being there. At least I can assuredly make a guesstimate of when to expect the due date to be though, there is only 4 days she could have come off the TTC list.Signaller, author, father, carer.0 -
oohh congrats that was quick. to be honest the first booking in appointment is just general family health questions and a run through of previous history and thats baout it, its really boring, i told hubby not to bother coming as he had work but the midwife did ask if i was a battered wife because he wasnt there lol
to be honest she will need moral support especially in the first trimester as hormones are all over the place, hopefully she will be lucky and not get much morning sickness but its the worst because you never know when its going to stop or for that matter sometimes when i ts going to happen.
just try to be understanding and if she bites your head off just remeber she doesnt really mean it (even if sheinsists she does lol)now proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
LOL - Thanks for the warning mirrorimage0.
Thankfully the GP she is using is the one that she had since birth pretty much although her records are apparently based at this end of the world now (all within the same county though, which is apparently more of a blessing than not). There will probably be a lot of interest from geneticisists, neurologists and every other kin of -gist you can think of though, which I think is daunting her more than anything.
Hopefully we get a reasonable offer on the property we are selling relatively quick, because once the tie in with the Agent expires, she will be about 20 weeks gone!Signaller, author, father, carer.0 -

the midwife asked me about my family life as well last week as i went on my own for the booking appointment - they must assume if you say your husband is at work you are being beaten up or something!!
i am going to make sure he comes in future then i look 'normal'!!0 -

I've never taken OH to antenatals he comes to scans because he drives.. when I had the others I did those alone too
They ask about family in case one of you has a job with toxic chemicals or something which may affect baby.
I don't know anyone who has routinely taken OH to appointmments.. if you do they might think he is controlling to the point you are not allowed out on your ownLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
