pigpen, just wanted to say that you absolutely did the right thing telling him. If he can't get it together enough in the next few days to own up to his responsiblity, then it's *his* issue.
Why did the doctor refuse to give you contraception? Surely, there is some form of contraception for everyone, eh?Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win. - Jonathan Kozol0 -

I have a severe latex allergy and cannot be given the pill due to heart conditions in my family and certain cancers. I had requested the implant (not sure if I can even have this at the moment).. easy enough to drag back out again and it is pretty much the only one I've not tried! She said no on the grounds I had had intermittent bleeding since having the baby (she was 3.5 months old and I bled for 6-8 weeks after the others and only 2 after her and usually after sex which I did say) which she thought might be an infection.. without any other symptoms.. no temp, no discharge, no pain, nothing. So refused until I had had swabs done.. which I did lodge objection to at the time. I duly made the appointment (soonest was 2 weeks later) which was cancelled due the the heavy snow and the GP couldn't get to the surgery.. by New Year the bleeding had stopped.. and hasn't happened since. I made another appointment to discuss contraception with another GP at the practice. as soon as I managed to get an appointment (15th Feb)... and found out I was pregnant before I got there (13th Feb).
The bleeding was not a period.. it would be maybe 2 or 3 days a week not necessarily consecutive days and after sex I'd bleed for about 3 days heavily.. whether that was once a week or once a month.. a period for me is 11 days of non-stop blood.
This same GP used to be a gynaecologist which was why I went to her.. she also ran bloods 5 years ago and told me I was menopausal... So this is twice she has made an error just with me.. I'll not be seeing her again.
Why is this woman still practising I wonder? Surely I am not such an anomaly that this is so difficult.
I've had surgeons who can't sew and are scalpel happy, GP's who are useless and now this one who doen't know one end of a blood screen to another...
And they wonder why I dislike them all so much and have no faith in their ability whatsoever.
Anyway.. you now know why I have no idea when this one was conceived.. lol
As for him over there.. he appears to be in less of a sulk.. he'll come round I'm sure.. eventually.. and then he'll hug me and I'll no doubt blubber like a fool..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Yikes. This woman sounds awful. After this one, if you're still hunting, you might try a diaphragm. I have a silicone one that I used for a long while (latex-free here too). The rate isn't as good as the pill, but you can do some things to help boost it's success (adding spermicide and/or tracking your cycle days).
I didn't mean to pry too much, I was just shocked that a doctor wouldn't help a woman looking for contraception options!Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win. - Jonathan Kozol0 -
Redwood, after my mum had my brother prem, who lived a few hours. She got pregnant again & mc'd. She went on a drinking holiday with a friend to recover, came back, had a scan to see if anything was left & there was this great big baby with a heartbeat!! She'd survived everything, had a good pregnancy, booked in for early c-section & a week in scubu.
Now sis is 15, taller than me, intelligent, fully functional, ALOT more fashion sense than me at 15 but better behaved. The twin had no effect on her whatsoever. (Weirdly her hair didn't realyy grow till she was 4, but that could be anything!)
Please don't worry/stress urself! 1 heartbeat is worth celebrating xxx:j - DS - 7

I am allergic to spermicide.. I am terrible.. They go on searches at the hospital when I go for internal scans looking for non-latex non-powder gloves and non-latex non-spermicide non-lubricated condoms for the dildo .. They love me..
she is not awful.. I can understand why she isn't employed as a gynae any more lol. She is really good for doing referrals for anything.. (maybe because she has no idea lol) .. she doesn't prescribe AB's for a virus and she actually likes doing home visits.. She listens and even better.. she makes comprehensive notes so I know on my file it states she refused contraception.... just so I know I did ask.

We didn't use spermicide either. We're a pretty earthy/natural dirty hippy sorta house, so we couldn't really find a spermicide that fit in with that ethos.
Good to know that the doc has good qualities too. Your earlier post sounded a bit troubling.Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win. - Jonathan Kozol0 -

Hi, pigpen, re your other half i'm sure he will come round to the idea, it took my dh a couple of weeks.
It was a shock for us to find out we were having another, but my oh has adjusted to it now.
If you were surprised by it, and you have finally told him, he may take time for him to adjust, you said it took a while for you to get your head around it.
My oh loves our kids but finds it hard when they are little and dont do a lot, he much prefers it when they are a little older & can be a more rough n tumble play.
RWB, glad u still have 1 little bean in there. Hope it all keeps goin well for you.0 -
