  • great news Luciferswench!

Appointment went well, MW told me not to worry too much as I am fit, healthy and exercising. I have to have a booking appointment in a few weeks time before scan as I have chosen to go with a hospital that isn't my local. More time off work!

I work in the NHS too and I think that I have to take some annual leave.

Based on size of your bump? Well scan will tell accurate date. I'm glad you went to your appt , good luck telling OH- could you leAve maternity notes or pregnancy vitamins out in bedroom? or even get one of your little ones to hand him a letter?

see I work in a crazy busy ward, and Id hate to see myself waddling up and down at 8.5 months with no open windows as were top floor and people jump so they are sealed barr 2 inches. Also up at 5.30 and I do long days so thats a 14hr shift eeck. Not to mention infections.

    Thanks tho an9i77
Its up yo you when you tell employers but sooner may be better as they have to carry out a risk assessment , inform you if certain infectious diseases are about and ensure you get adequate breaks. I work in a school so once I tell my boss I can be taken off break duty rota etc.
And we have a baby 9wk 3 days with a strong heartbeat.
Thanks for everyones well wishes :)

  • Glad your scan went well!

Still no booking appointment confirmed yet (midwives don't have a number to chase first appointments - only let you ring once you're on their books). I'm being so impatient - I know I'm only 6+5 but thought i might have heard by now, as i self referred almost two weeks ago.

    Grrrrrrr

    Hi Ladies

I feel like I should be posting more but I am just lazily lurking! Don't really have anything to report either only that I am 7 weeks today and symptoms have mainly died down apart from tender b00bs and gagging at certain smells :o

I have a private scan booked for 8th March and can't wait! I finally managed to convince OH that we "needed" it even though I booked it a week before he agreed!!

I have my offical booking in appointment the day after on 9th March. Have seen the midwife once already when she took some details, weighed me and gave me the first bounty pack.

Hope everyone is doing well and not feeling too grotty:(

Congrats Luciferswench - bet you are so relieved :T
First baby due October 2013 :j

So sorry to hear of your loss.. everything crossed for a positive outcome for this little one. Was there nothing visible on the scan last time to indicate baby was not ok? just so they could check this time to reassure you.

Nuchal scan has to be done between 11 and 14 weeks.

At 8 weeks they do abdo scan. there will be a HB a head and body and arms and legs and a few internal organs are visible.

Thanks very much, they detected a problem at the 12 week scan but it was to do with the nuchal fold so I suppose they won't be able to check that tomorrow.

Getting really excited about the scan tomorrow morning now :)

Is anyone getting any food cravings? I can't get enough of salty foods at the moment, have been eating tons of salt & vinegar rice cakes and am going to have pasta with lots of salty cheese for dinner!

Thank you Dida :) i feel happy that i was stalkable! haha (that somehow makes me sound really sad!) im reckoning on 4+2 or 4+3 today so made it further than last time so far :) fingers crossed.
    How are you doing?
    x

:D Well I have my stalker eyes (makes me sound odd doesn't it, on a few, including you, from back when I was a scared mouse - I'm still scared but slightly larger now than a mouse now at 25 weeks LOL!). I feel too old really - and it has showed in an achy back, a dodgy pelvis and nightly nose bleeds, but otherwise fine thank you:)

You never forget the people that welcome you and give you support in the early stages :) (so hence I have become a stalker...:rotfl:!!!!).

I am sending you lots and lots of the stickiest vibes xx
  • Lurking from the 12-24 thread but lovely to "see" so many from the TTC thread moving over :)
  • Great news Lucifer, glad the scan went well.

    Welcome newbies!

Booking in with the midwife tomorrow - preparing myself for the inevitable barrage of questions. I don't have any medical history for my family (am adopted) so I'm not sure how much that will impact on any tests etc that might/might not need doing. Plus, I'm overweight which will probably be a factor (I don't think the entire box of Roses I've just eaten as a reward for going swimming will help!). We'll just have to see. Quite excited about it though - it makes it all seem more real.

Hmm... That's interesting, in my last job and pregnancy I was told that I had to take all my annual leave before starting maternity leave. When I went on mat leave early, they still wouldn't let me carry it over and paid me for it instead (I'd rather have had the extra time!).

I got told that first bit in my last job too, but as HR advisor to the company I simply changed the policy on legal advice - one of the only perks of my line of work is that I can challenge the rules if legally I know they are not sound. I also managed to get them to agree to give back bank holidays - I bet they were fed up in the end with me fiddling with the maternity policy and all breathed a sigh of relief when I went off to have the baby!
