I guess I'm 4+5, gosh never had to count the days before. No symptoms still but boobs are slightly sorer or maybe that's my imagination. I have no desire to cook either so I'm just on ready meals, sandwiches and pizza!

I hope the midwife I see on 1st March is nicer than yours today MV, cos I really need things explaining to me. I wouldn't like a hospital birth, maybe a birth centre would be better. I think the NHS push staff too hard so they have less time to see people and get shirty.
  • Due to my job, I know most of the midwives and most of the staff at the nearest hospital maternity unit, so it's all going to be a bit eek to be on the other side so to speak. There are some good midwives and some horrendous ones, but the community ones from the health centre I'm registered at tend to be alright (in a professional capacity, maybe I'll feel differently afterwards, I don't know).

Eeeeek..just lurking in the thread after discovering I'm pregnant and dreading seeing the midwife. I have a terrible opinion of doctors and medics from my own experiences and was expecting the midwife to be lovely and friendly like on TV. Can you change midwives if you don't like yours?

    Firstly congratulations! :T

Secondly - the answer is yes - I have! I had a MW from hell at my 17 week appointment (I'm a lurker from the 12-24 week thread!) so phoned up an am now seeing the first one I saw at 7 weeks (who was lovely!). However, it does involve me travelling to a surgery in another town!

But worth every mile - the last one had me in tears! So don't worry - they aren't all bad and you can change if you come across a horrible one!
  • Congratulations Bangton!

    Bless you...thank you Ihatedida.

Gosh I hope I get a good one and don't have to change but it's nice to know the option is there. I'm really nervous with medical professionals (except dentists!) I'd drive anywhere to have a good midwife who would help to make is a wonderful experience...as it should be.

Thanks tiny....hope no one minds me butting in. It's early days so I only wanted to lurk for now but I couldnt help posting since only my partner knows I'm pregnant and it's like holding in the biggest news ever till you feel safe to tell people. I'm six weeks today...six to go I think. Is that the right time to tell...12 weeks?

I'm exactly like that Bangton, only my OH knows but I feel like bursting wanting to tell people, but at the same time don't want to tell anyone until I'm past that 12 week mark. These next weeks are going to go soooo slowly!

Tell whenever you feel ready. Apparantly if you see a heartbeat after 9 weeks the chances of m/c are almost the same as 12. As I get early scans due to a medical condition I will probably tell once I've seen a hb and got to around 9/10 weeks.

Its so hard keeping it in isn't it, I am going out for my birthday on saturday and the only way to keep the cat in the bag is to pretend to be drinking, hopefully everyone else will be drinking so not notice I'm stone cold sober.

I did think about telling people but its far too soon really, i'm only 6 weeks and have already had to tell my boss due to medical issues that may affect my work.

    Congrats btw!
