My DH didn't come along to see the MW this time, but he did with our first a couple of years ago. The MW will ask questions about both of your medical histories, so it's useful if you can be there but not essential (your partner could get the information from you later and pass it on to the MW). To be honest, the bit you're needed for will probably take about 5 minutes.
You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.
  • Cool, as long as I won't be in the way or a complete waste of time :D

Bodge - my DH didn't come to the first appointment and to be honest he didn't miss anything.. I think he would have been bored, just lots and lots of questions and paperwork. But everybody is different and if you would like to go, then do! The midwife said he would have been very welcome if he'd wanted to go.

I'd definitely go along to the scans and subsequent midwife appointments though as you get a chance to listen to the baby's heartbeat at those appointments.
  • Hi ladies, well scan went fine on Monday and baby is happy and healthy in there :D They've put my due date at 30th June. OH was thrilled with the scan - he was amazed that you could see its little nose!
Had to go for an operation yesterday on my hand so didn't get a chance to check in, very sore today and I think cub is glad that I'm on enforced rest for a few days
  • Hi I'm 6w3d with my first, saw the midwife and had my flu jab this week now nothing for 4 weeks! will just have to try and relax and enjoy Xmas but being a newbie and conceiving rather quickly has left me feeling quite dazed and a bit nervous!
Not really had many symptoms and they seem to come and go so it is hard to really feel pregnant. Roll on the end of Jan!
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!'
  • Also not really 'feeling pregnant' here and wondering if I am imagining it all. Has anyone else kept doing hpt tests since getting their positive..... you know just to check its still saying that your actually pregnant? (I have a stack of the internet cheapies)

Congrats on the scan Sparkles hope the hand feels better soon.

minimuffin - stay as long as you like, we like having you around

Has anyone else not DTD since getting their BFP? I dont know why..... partly because I am really knackered and partly incase it could do some harm.
If at first you dont succeed, try, try again

Congrats on the scan sparkles hope your hand is better soon!

@minimuffin yup scan is booked for the 27th, ill be almost 7 weeks so hopefully will be able to see something

@ Rumfeeble, I only stopped Poas last week and that was because I ran out of tests! I have more symptoms this week but it could all be in my head :) also we have been Dtd about the same as before, I am off work this week and it is definitely helping with my energy levels. 10+ hours sleep is bliss!

AFM no further spotting so feeling more positive now, DH has been really supportive! Also have decided to go private for preg care, I don't qualify for the midwife lead care as I have a small fibroid and my getting pregnant is not great career wise ( a lot of people have been let go folliwing return from maternity leave) so having to take off extra time to wait for 3+ hours for each visit is a no go. Not exactly money saving its about 4k but weighting up the options it seems to make the most sense for us!
  • lao_cat - I had spotting and pain at six weeks and GP referred me straight to EPU for a scan and they were really nice and reassured me that it's very common to have spotting in early pregnancy.
Sometimes money saving is about investments and if it helps stabilise your career, then it's worthwhile.

I'm so bored being off, OH is being a star - bringing me food and drinks and lots of cuddles :) Think tomorrow at my mums with my study stuff will do me good!

rumfeeble - congrats again on your BFP :) I did 13 tests in total.... and I probably would have done more if I hadn't run out....

In terms of the symptoms thing, everybody is so different - I had nothing until 6 weeks, then the nausea started, and then vomiting started at 9 weeks! I have friends who had absolutely no symptoms before their 12 week scan and very healthy pregnancies.

re: DTD - we did a few times after I got my BFP, and then I started feeling so nauseous and tired I haven't really felt like it at all, have done a couple of times but not as much as DH would like to - poor man watching my boobs getting bigger and bigger but not allowed anywhere near me!! It won't do any harm though, there is no need to worry about that. Apparently your cervix can get irritated more easily so you might experience a tiny bit of bleeding after sex, but it won't do any harm to the baby.

Sparkles - great news about your scan, hope you feel better soon.
  • I must be the only person whose boobs have grown that much! Still wearing the same bras. We have only dtd a few times since bfp, i really just don't feel like it but haven't had any bleeding after. I got a letter today confirming that Im o negative, i already knew that as i donate blood and need the anti d injection, is anyone else o neg?
    Mum of 2 :j
