Can totally relate to that, i had terrible headaches in week 4 then they suddenly disappeared. Had one yesterday and just slept it off. I would be more aware of smells now, and tmi was a bit, ahem bunged up over the weekend. That's a good idea, Will stick to nhs site now too. One other sight i went on said if you aren't sick then you Will prob miscarry! Are you having an early scan? Btw it feels so great to be able to talk about this and my fears.Mum of 2 :j0

I'm not having an early scan - I would like to, but sadly things can still go wrong between an early scan showing all ok and the 12 week scan, so I am trying my best to be patient and wait!0

Don't think I'll have an early scan either. Just made an appointment for next Wednesday with my GP. Should be 5ish weeks by then. They date you from the 1st day of your last period right? I bet they'll want to take blood - I hate it
I'm a bit of a fainter). Better get used to it I guess!

Im really torn about the early scan, i would like to have one but will prob wait. Not sure what to expect from the dr appt, what questions will they ask?
Yes lovecake its dated from last period, i had an app when i was tracking mine so thankfully have the date noted down, otherwise i would forget! Have you had any symptons?Mum of 2 :j0 -
The first GP appointment is very unexciting! (At least it was for me, and most other people say the same). They will just work out your estimated dates - counting from the first day of your last period, and get you on the system for a midwife appointment (usually at about 8-10 weeks) and a scan (between 11-13 weeks usually). They'll check you are taking folic acid, ask if you smoke, drink etc but I wouldn't expect them to take bloods or anything. Most GPs don't even do a urine pregnancy test as home tests are so reliable these days.0

Thanks mrsj! Good to know! I'm just thinking because of my blood type they might want to check that I don't have any antibodies in my blood. It's all very complicated! I shouldn't do because I've had the Anti-D injection before so it should have prevented any antibodies, but they might want to check. I'm really hoping I can have my scan before Xmas! It would be really good to tell the family then (We are waiting until first scan).
minimuffin - my symptoms have been MAJOR bloating for the past week and a bit, forgetfulness / tiredness / clumsiness for about a week now and that strange metallic taste in my mouth that some people mention. Apart from that I feel totally normal
Have any of you told anyone yet or are you waiting?0 -
Have any of you told anyone yet or are you waiting?
I've told 2 very close friends (both sworn to secrecy!). Not telling anyone else until nuchal or whatever it is scan/test. Then we are only going to tell a few close family members. I will tell work when I can no longer hide it (and to fit in with schedule for maternity pay!).
I have a feeling that the Pregnacare that I am taking might be making my nausea worse? I read about iron having an effect?? Anyone else know anything about iron - can I stop taking it? I don't eat meat so maybe I need iron in a supplement?? 1st appointment with midwife tomorrow so I might ask her.
I am also secretly hoping nausea means a girl......!!! Although of course I know it can all still go very wrong....0 -
Thanks for that mrsj, hopefully the appt will ease a bit of anxiety, im going to write down some things that i need to ask.
Weve told our inlaws and my mum, no one else knows. Still very early days but just wanted to tell our nearest.Mum of 2 :j0 -
lovecake - I found out I'm rh- after my first lot of bloods. All I was told is I have to have an antiD jab around 28 weeks and again within72hours of the birth. I was also told if I have any trauma to my abdomen or bleeding I have to have the jab. (I'm 25 weeks so not had the jab yet - just waiting for an appointment)
Hope you are all managing the sickness/tiredness ok.

re: telling people - I have told my parents, but only because I was at their house for dinner and had to ask for a well done steak...(not like me at all!!). It is nice being able to talk to my mum about it actually so I'm glad she knows. I've told a couple of very close friends who I see regularly, but that's it. Am going to try to avoid telling anybody else until we've had our 12 week scan.
I'm no good at keeping things quiet though, so we'll see how I go...!0
