Sparkle I am intrigued....PM me if you can reveal your identity!!!
For people who've had first midwife appt - did you take your OH with you? I wasn't sure if he should come along, he is quite keen to.0 -
First appt is usually boring as anything (and the mw likes to get you alone to ask about domestic violence too to see if you're in a safe environment). You definitely want him along for scans but other appts are usually not very exciting except later on you get to hear the heartbeat (for me not till 25 weeks though others have had it at 16)0

Morning ladies.
Looking for a bit of advice....
I've had to chance my midwife AGAIN!! I'm 9 weeks and heard nothing at all.
Turns out my appointment is for when I'm 11 weeks. I asked about my scan because I'm on holiday out of the UK from 11+2 and 13+3! She said I'd have to wait until I'm home and refused to send me for one when I'm 11+1.
Not happy because I wanted to know if everything is ok before I fly. Really don't know whether to book a private scan to just give me reassurance xDFW - Feb 2016 £19k

niknok, are you pretty sure about your dates (i.e. you know when you conceived / ovulated?). If so 13+3 is reasonable, if there's any doubt you could be further along and you are thinking of having the nuchal fold test, it must be done before 13+5 so try discuss that with her again.0

This is my concern. I came off the pill and had a 5 week cycle, 6 week cycle and then on the third cycle got my bfp at 4 weeks. She wants me to have the scan either 13+4 or 13+5 (both based on lmp) but if my dates are out at all then i could be outside of the time frame.
I am getting so frustrated with them because they have never got in touch with me yet they seem to have an appointment with me that I know nothing about and both times I have had to call them to chase them, noone is there so I then have to leave a voice mail and wait for a return call. She wasn't even interested that I was in hospital for 3 days last week!DFW - Feb 2016 £19k

Back from dating scan appointment, was all a bit difficult. Scan detected sac but no bubba, internal scan was same. This is normal for 5 weeks but it's likely I'm further along than that. So was referred to early pregnancy unit for blood tests. One today to measure pregnancy hormone levels, one on Friday to check whether they have changed. If I'm having a healthy pregnancy they'd expect hormone level to double.
So it's not bad news, I might just be less far along than I expected, but it's a hard few days ahead.
Will be expecting a call on Friday afternoon after blood test, which was due to be pretty emotional anyway as its the day my sister and her family return to their home in Australia after a three week stay at my mums.
My hubby came with me for the appointment, my mum is coming over this afternoon as I can't keep it together through the family meals in the next few days and I want to tell mum without the whole family being part of it. We hadn't told her we were pregnant yet.
So it's fingers crossed and wait and see....fran-o0 -
Hi fran-o - sorry to hear you didn't have more conclusive news from the scan and you've got a bit of a wait ahead. Really hoping it's just too early to see the little bean and that your blood tests will show things are progressing nicely. Glad you've got the support of your husband and mum - will be thinking of you over the next few days.0

Hey guys, I am a total Newbie to this board! I am 31 and have done a test today after suspecting for the past few days that i might be pregnant. It has come back positive! Not totally planned-more of a 'see what happens' thing but we are both really happy. Although I feel kind of terrified, it's our first baby and we are both quite immature and have been enjoying a resposibility-free life together for years so I'm so nervous and not sure how we will manage!
I guess i am only around 4 weeks gone and have tender boobs and sometimes cramoy feelings. Is this normal? Thanks in advance..also is their a list of abbreviation anywhere?like BFP?0
